7 Unique Gifts for Kids for Christmas 2010

Find Novel Holiday Gift Ideas for Children Here

Angela W. La Fon
Are you looking for some unique Christmas gifts for kids? I've been doing unique Christmas gifts research for some time now and I have found some real winners. However, before they made the unique gifts lists, I called in a research team of children ages 6 to 12 to verify whether or not a gift really had the pizzazz to qualify as unique.

I'll have to admit that a few of my choices didn't make the cut. I thought the Make Your Own Masks kits with 205 pieces from hearthsong.com was pretty unique but my little researchers said "You can make your own masks from stuff you've already got at home." Point well taken ladies and gentlemen!

The Hokey Pokey Musical Skirt got a thumbs up from the girls. Boys admitted that it might be fun to try on but they didn't want their name on the gift tag of this pink polka dotted skirt no matter what song it played.

You know the song that's been around since the 1940's. "You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out..." Well the Hokey Pokey musical skirt plays the tune so young kids can follow along and dance, wiggle and giggle.

The Hokey Pokey Musical skirt is sized for girls 3 to 6 years old. It's on sale at hearthsong.com for $29.98 and also available at amazon.com for $34.25 for Christmas 2010.

The Design Your Own Lamp was given a super unique stamp of approval from preteens who thought they'd love to create a lamp using their own original artwork. Decorating is easy when kids simply slide their own artwork between the two flame resistant plastic sheets.

This unique gift for ages 6 and up makes a great night light and is available from hearthsong.com for $29.98.

Boys and girls alike thought the Build Your Own Catapult kit was super unique and fun. I thought it would be very educational too but I didn't want to mention this and spoil the Christmas fun.

The Build Your Own Catapult kit is available from mindware.com for Christmas 2010 for $24.95 and it is recommended for ages 7 and up.

Everyone liked the appeal of the Uncle Milton Rainbow in my Room Projector to create a rainbow in his or her room. This Rainbow Projector can work with an AC adaptor or four AAA batteries (not included) and allows kids to turn on the rainbow with a wave of their hand. It also has an automatic shut off.

Uncle Milton Rainbow in my Room is available for Christmas 2010 from Amazon.com for $19.99. It's usually $29.99 at most sources. It is recommended for ages five and up and there are strong safety warnings for kids under three due to small parts.

Some runners up for Novel Gifts for Kids for Christmas 2010:

MegaView TV Microscope magnifies anything 200 times and projects it onto your television screen. It's available from mindware.com for $69.95 for Christmas 2010.

Connectagons comes with 95 interconnecting discs with themes such as Fairy Garden, which seemed to be the most popular theme idea, as well as fish, butterflies and hearts. Connectagons are available from hearthsong.com for $24.95 for Christmas 2010.

The Make Your Own Balloon Animals kit was also a runner up for novel gifts. The kit with 20 balloons, a pump and instruction book is available from mindware.com for $16.95 for Christmas 2010.
