#1 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Make Chewed Bubble Gum Sculptures
I read that if you put a huge glob of bubble gum in your mouth and chew it for a couple hours, you'll have the makings of a sculpture. The idea of doing it myself kind of grosses me out. But, Italian Artist Maurizio Savini is famous for creating sculptures out of chewed bubble gum. You can see some examples of Savini's unusual use for bubble gum here.
#2 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Use It For Catfish Bait
Chew a piece of bubble gum just enough to get it pliable. Then, wrap it around your fishing hook and cast it out. Catfish love the flavor of bubble gum- especially Bazooka, Double Bubble and Bubble Yum. So, as long as they're hungry, you should be pulling Cats out of the water all day!
#3 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Fill Cracks in Clay Flowerpots
For this use you'll need to chew a piece of bubble gum until the flavor is gone and it's very pliable. Use just enough gum to fill the crack. Roll it between your fingers until it's a thin thread- but wide enough to fill the crack. Press the bubble gum in the crack firmly.
#4 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Improve Your Memory
According to psychologistworld.com, the University of Northumbria in Newcastle, England conducted a study to find a possible correlation between chewing gum and remembering information. The results? More than a third of the participants who chewed gum had a higher rate of recall. This is probably because chewing bubble gum raises our heart beats and sends more blood to the brain.
#5 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Secure Documents Together
Can't find your paper stapler? Chew a piece of bubble gum until the flavor is completely gone. Pinch off a piece of it and lay it between the upper corners of two documents. Press the bubble gum down with your finger to secure the documents together. Allow the gum to harden and it will hold better than a staple.
#6 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Recover Faster From Colon Resection Surgery
A study was conducted in American hospitals with patients who had had laparoscopic colon surgery. One group was given clear liquid post-surgery, while the second group got chewing gum along with their meals. The results of the study? The second group was able to leave the hospital a day sooner. Since gum stimulates the digestive system, it's possible that chewing it helps prevent or lessen postoperative ileus. Ileus is a post-surgery condition when the digestive system is latent.
#7 Unusual Use for Bubble Gum- Remove Light Scratches From a CD
Chew a piece of bubble gum until it's pliable. Then, wipe the piece across a CD that has light scratches on it. Rub vigorously from the center of the CD out until you've covered the entire side. Rinse the gum residue off under running tap water. Wipe the CD dry with a soft cloth, and the scratches will be gone.
