7 Valentine's Day Crafts Ideas Using Pipe Cleaners

No Mess Valentine's Day Crafts

You say tom-ay-to and I say tom-a-to. You say chenille stems and I still call them pipe cleaners. Whatever you call them, pipe cleaner (or chenille stem) crafts are fun for ages preschool to middle school and kids will love these Valentine's Day crafts made from pipe cleaners. Sure kids can make a bouquet of pipe cleaner flowers that won't cost a fortune or die in days but there are lots of creative ways to use pipe cleaners to create Valentine's Day fun.

Heart Antennas

Kids can use red pipe cleaners to add heart shaped antennas to headbands. Simply form a heart on one end and wrap the other end around the headband. You'll need just two pipe cleaners per child for this fun Valentine's Day craft BUT if you want to make this super fun, have kids wrap another color like pink or white around the red pipe cleaner for a stronger antenna with a swirling striped look. Kids can really "feel" the love with these heart shaped antenna.

Heart Glasses

While pipe cleaner antenna can help kids feel the love, heart shaped pipe cleaner glasses can help them see the love on Valentine's Day. Glasses will require three pipe cleaners each. Use one to form two heart lenses and nose rest and one for each earpiece. Again kids can wrap with another color pipe cleaner for stronger glasses and even more Valentine's Day pizzazz.

Valentine's Day Messages

Don't let those texting kids have all the fun on Valentine's Day. Young children can create text-ured Valentine's Day messages by forming letters and Valentine's Day messages with pipe cleaners like "B Mine" or "Love U." My alarm is going off for super easy Valentine's Day bulletin board ideas.

Valentine's Day Count Down Chain

Another fun Valentine's Day activity with pipe cleaners is to create a count down chain to the big day. For this Valentine's Day craft, kids can cut red, white and pink pipe cleaners and form a chain to count down to the Valentine's Day. A child removes a link each day and the small pieces can be saved and reused for other pipe cleaner crafts.

Valentine's Day Bling

Maybe some people are hoping for diamonds for Valentine's Day but kids will love making their own jewelry to wear to a Valentine's Day party even if it is made from really (in)expensive pipe cleaners. Wrapping two colors of pipe cleaners and creating necklaces, anklets or bracelets is fun and easy but don't forget that it is also easy to add "heart charms" made with small pieces of pipe cleaners or that beads are easy to string on pipe cleaners to make Valentine's Day jewelry too.

Princess and Prince Crowns

We should all be the princess or prince for a day on Valentine's Day. What a fun Valentine's Day party craft to create a crown. Start with two pipe cleaners fit to the child's royal head. They can wrap in another color and then make points by another pipe cleaner in an up and down pattern.

Pipe cleaner crafts let kids use their hands and their imagination and what's more to love? There's no mess to clean up with Valentine's Day pipe cleaner crafts.
