1. Cuddle up with a good book and a steaming mug of coffee or hot chocolate.
There is nothing better than cuddling up on the couch with a good book. A mug of coffee or hot chocolate will help you warm up and get you going. A little caffeine goes a long way.
2. Get out and take a walk
Get bundled up and go for a walk. People tend to stay shut up in their homes during the winter and it gets very old after a while. A little fresh air will do you good, especially during the winter.
3. Clean and organize your home.
Take the time to thoroughly clean and organize your home. Once you are finished, you will have a clean, organized home to enjoy. Staying indoors won't seem quite so bad. If you are like me, you'll come across items that you haven't used or even seen in a very long time. When spring finally does come, you won't have to spend your time indoors cleaning.
4. Take up a new hobby.
Maybe you don't really know what to do with yourself when the weather is cold. Why not take up a new hobby? Skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling are great ways to get outdoors during the winter. If you love being outdoors, but not the cold, you might want to take up a new hobby such as writing, reading, scrapbooking, etc. There are as many possibilities as there are people. The important thing is to keep busy. You don't want your life to be all work and no play.
5. Keep in touch with friends and family.
A lot of times, we get so tired of seeing our friends and family over the holiday season, we stay away most of the month of January. However, by early February, we're over the Christmas withdrawal. Why not plan a winter family get together or a Mardi gras party for your friends? You don't have to get together only over the holiday season.
6. Pamper yourself at home.
Why not spend an evening pampering yourself at home? Take a long, hot bath and then do your hair, nails, and take care of your skin. Not only will you get rid of that rough winter dry skin, you'll look great and feel even better.
7. Volunteer.
If you have the time, volunteering for a worthy cause can really help you put your life in perspective when you are feeling down. There are hundreds of great organizations (local, national, and international) that could use your help. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than volunteering.
