Storm fun tip #1 - Use a personal day, if you have them, if things are too bad.
If things are so treacherous that you really fear for your safety on your way to work, use a personal or vacation day, if you have one to spare. Why not spend a day at home? Chances are that if you have children, they will be home too. You might be able to have a day home as a family.
Storm fun tip #2 - Take some time to concentrate on your home.
As you will probably be spending a bit of time at home due to the weather (even if you still go into work), why not take some time to decorate or clean? It doesn't matter what you do to beautify your home or make it more comfortable, why not do something you enjoy? At the end of the day, you can relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Storm fun tip #3 - Use it as an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends.
Chances are that other people will be home too. Why not use it as an opportunity to call up your friends and family? You will certainly have a conversation starter in the weather. You never know what might result from those conversations. You might be planning a party before you know it.
Storm fun tip #4 - Have a movie marathon.
If you know that there is a storm coming, why not head over to the movie rental store and stock up? As the snow or ice accumulates, you can be enjoying a movie marathon with friends and family. You might even have enough good movies in your personal collection that you don't even need to run out or spend any money.
Storm fun tip #5 - Catch up on your sleep.
There is nothing better than spending an extra hour or two in bed when the snow flies. If you don't have that luxury, you can always use it as an excuse to go to bed a little early. You might not even want to go to sleep, but you can always watch TV or serf the Internet from your laptop in bed. Just be sure not to get too much sleep. It can lead you to feel very groggy and keep you up all night. Of course, there are always other things you can do in bed too.
Storm fun tip #6 - Invite your friends and neighbors over.
If you happen to be friends with your neighbors, this can work out really well. They can come over without risking the roads. If you don't know your neighbors all that well, why not use the storm as an opportunity to do so? You might just have a party before you know it. The more people you have over, the more opportunities for fun.
Storm fun tip #7 - Break out your favorite games.
This is a particularly good tip for those with kids or people who have the entire family home during a storm. Chances are that you have a closet full of games that you simply never use. Why not use this opportunity to break them out? You can spend hours playing your favorite game, or play several. Either way, you'll never be bored.
Storms, winter storms in particular, often strand people together for an extended period of time; why not make the most of it? If you don't like the tips suggested above, you can always curl up with a good book or two.
