7 Ways to Relieve Stress

gcmedia
Stress can affect someone's life if they do not learn to control it. Becoming overly stressed could lead to things like health problems (e.g. panic attacks), changes in personality (e.g. depression), or it can cause separation with the most important things in your life (break up with your spouse or getting fired). Although stress is a part of life, it has to be managed.

1. Take long, deep breaths. Count to 50 or meditate for a few minutes if you are feeling overwhelmed.

2. Take a break. Although at the moment it could seem like taking a break will only put you more behind if you are working, it will help and be better for you in the long-run.

3. Play soft music. Soft music will help you stay in a calm mode.

4. Exercise. This can include anything from taking a stroll around the park to kick-boxing. Any physical activity will definitely help you release stress from your body.

Yoga is also a good way to help you relax.

5. Talk with someone. It is better to tell someone about any problems that are causing you to stress how you are feeling, than holding it in because doing so will only make you feel more miserable. Telling someone will make you feel like a weight has been lifted off your chest.

6. Write things down. Write down things that are bothering you. Journals have helped many people release any tension. This also helps a lot because you can write things down that you are really feeling and would not want others to know about, which is a great way to release tension.

7. Comedy. Whether it be watching a funny movie, or being around someone who is funny, having a good laugh is your body's natural way to deal with stress.
