7 Ways to Save Money on Your Electric Bill

Sunshine Wilson
These days who isn't looking for ways to save money? Take a look at your electric bill because there may be several ways that you can save energy. And saving energy means saving money on your electric bill.

#1 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Electrical Devices

Take a walk through your house and unplug everything that you are not using. Electric and electronic devices can still use energy when plugged in, even when they are turned off. So unplug everything and just plug it back in when you need to use it.

#2 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Washer and Dryer

Wait until you have a full load of wash before doing your laundry. The same amount of energy is used for a large load as for a smaller one. Instead of putting your laundry in the dryer, hang your clothes on plastic hangers and let them air dry. When they are almost dry, toss them in the dryer for five or ten minutes with a dryer sheet.

#3 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Dishwasher

The same general idea should be used for washing your dishes in the dishwasher. Only run a full load of dishes because again, the same amount of energy is used for a large load as for a small load. Turn off the dishwasher when it gets to the drying cycle. Open up the door and pull out the racks. Let your dishes air dry.

#4 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Refrigerator

Since refrigerators use less energy when full as opposed to partially full or empty, keep plenty of food in your refrigerator. Keep food in covered containers. Uncovered foods cause moisture making your refrigerator's compressor use more energy. Check your refrigerator door seals to make sure they are keeping in the cold.

#5 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Lighting

Use fluorescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs. Although they cost more than incandescent bulbs, fluorescent and compact fluorescent use considerably less energy and last much longer.

#6 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Windmill

Construct your own windmill to generate your own electricity. This is easier than you may think. Windmill kits are available for purchase, or you can build one yourself. For more information, see "Instructions To Build A Windmill For Your Home".

#7 - Ways To Save Money On Your Electric Bill - Solar Panel

Making your own solar panel is another way to generate your own electricity. You can buy a solar panel kit, or make it yourself. For more information, see "Make A Small Solar Panel - How To Make A Small Solar Panel".

Good luck saving energy and saving money on your next electric bill.

I don't have a dishwasher, so that saves right there! I do everything else you listed except we have done windmills or panels yet.
