7 Wild Rides and Shows at Disney's Animal Kingdom
A Day of Wild Adventures Awaits You at Disney's Animal Kingdom
Festival of the Lion King - In this Broadway caliber production, Simba shares the story of the Lion King through song, dance, and acrobatics. To help tell the story, performers sing songs from the movie, animals dance around the stage in this theatre in the round production, and acrobatic monkeys flip and tumble.
Kilimanjaro Safaris - The premier attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris takes visitors on safari through the fictional Harambe Wildlife Reserve in Harambe, East Africa. The 800 acre animal reserve is home to real animals; there are no audioanimatronics here (unlike the Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom). On safari, visitors will see elephants, monkeys, giraffe, lions, zebras, antelope, gazelle, crocodiles, hippos, cheetahs, warthogs, rhinos, and more.
Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade - Rafiki from The Lion King leads the way for this jungle trek that winds its way around Disney's Animal Kingdom. Along for the ride, besides the stilt walkers and various jungle critters, are Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, and of course Mickey Mouse
Finding Nemo-The Musical - This orignal production tells the story of Nimo and his undersea adventures. Through the use of puppets (in the style of Avenue Q), this lavish musical production features songs from the movie as well as some new songs written by Avenue Q composer Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez
Kali River Rapids - Join a crew of other explores and make your way down the Kali River. However, the Kali river can be torturous, and the before long, you and your boat have encountered the dreaded rapids. While you'll probably survive the rapids, you're bound to come out soaking wet.
Expedition Everest - Enjoy a scenic train trek to the top of Mount Everest, at lest until the infamous Yeti changes that plan. As your train emerges from a cave, riders catch a glimpse of the Yeti's shadow and the train track ahead is ripped into two. Unable to proceed, the train starts going backwards, downhill into a dark cave and speeds over and around Mount Everest to escape the Yeti.
Dinosaur (formerly Countdown to Extinction) - At the Dino institute, riders board jeeps for a wild ride back in time into the Cretaceous period just as meteors that are believed the cause the extinction of the dinosaurs begin to slam into the earth. Of course, this makes the ride a bit more bumpy... and thrilling!
