7 Year Old Steals Car

"7 Year Old Steals Car" was the headline heard around the world this morning. What makes it even more entertaining was that when you hear somebody say "7 year old steals car" you probably have a variety of different images come to mind. 7 year old steals car could have been the title of the Coen brothers' classic "O Brother Where Art Thou" for the scene where the guys are saved from a burning farmhouse by a young fellow who also could have made the local newspaper declare "7 year old steals car".

However, when you hear the declaration today, "7 year old steals car", you probably have images of New York city, or maybe Chicago or perhaps even Florida. Surprisingly enough, the headline "7 year old Steals Car" did not appear in any of those big city newspapers. Instead, "7 year old steals car" appeared in a local paper this morning in Utah. From there it became contagious and was read about every where.

Initially one would probably be quite concerned to hear something like "7 year old steals car" to come out of Utah. Something pretty horrible must have occurred to prompt a child of such tender age to contemplate a dangerous maneuver. Perhaps in this case we hear that a 7 year old steals car because he was escaping the clutches of some evil villain. Perhaps he had been kidnapped and realized his only chance to get away was to go for it. Fortunately, the situation that brought about the headline "7 year old steals car" was not nearly that dire.

Perhaps we read "7 year old steals car" because he had to rush a family member to a hospital in a medical emergency. It may very well be that the news of a 7 year old steals car adventure was brought about because somebody's grandma didn't chew that dinner turkey enough and needed medical attention after nearly choking to death. Fortunately again, no near fatal choking turkey provoked the need for anyone to read the headline "7 year old steals car."

As it turned out, the 7 year old steals car in this case was brought about because this child did not want to enter into the house of the lord. That right, the kid didn't want to go to church. As we all know, when faced with the decision of church or the joy ride, we are going to hear about the story "7 year old steals car" every time. Or, maybe not. Hopefully, in the future, somebody will tell this poor soul that just because you did something a little naughty, does not mean the holy water is really going to sting.
