Yesterday, April 3, 2009, I stopped by the post office to pick up our mail. We have often had problems getting other peoples mail at home, and we had some stolen there once as well. That is when we rented the p. o. box and thought that would solve the problems. It didn't. Soon we began getting another person's mail there. I am sure it is the person that used to have that p. o. box for his/her own. Still you would think that by now the post office workers would know that we are the only family that live here are that should be getting mail there at the box number.

Do you remember when the post office insisted that we begin using zip codes? They told us that it would help direct the mail to the right post office and help get mail to the rightful owner much faster. In other words it would speed up the mail system. After a letter I got yesterday, I am not so sure it works that way. Many times when getting our mail at home we have gotten our neighbors mail and a few times people that have the same name but live in a different town nearby.

This time, however, the post office pulled a real boner. A post office in Louisiana messed up first, but ours did too by not sending it back. The post office box number was the same as ours and the zip code was similar. The one on the envelope was 71058 ours is 72058. You can see that they are in two completely different states. I live in AR, and that Zip is in LA. A person would think that they would've noticed that especially since the return address was also in LA. That is where the similarities ended also, as the town wasn't even close.

My cousin recently told me about a letter he received at his house. Actually, I don't remember if he said at his house or at the p.o. box. I just am not sure that he has a p.o. box is why I said at his house. Anyway, that letter was supposed to be in Arkansas, but in a town 100 or so miles away. At least we know it isn't just our post office that screws up all the time.

I can understand when it is just next to mine that they just accidently slipped it in the wrong boxt Priscilla, but that's not possible from a whole state away. I know machinery does it for the most part now days, but don't they double check or anything? Mercy I am aggravated with this entire rotten post office now. Thanks for commenting.

Some mail carriers care for their jobs and some don't Tiadora--I think. I have a neice that had some checks stolen out of the mail. It turned out to be the Postmaster that stole them from her. I'm not sure what happened, but I hope she got fired and had to pay the money back. Just because a person has a responsible job doesn't make him/her a responsible person. Thanks again for the comment on 71058.

    Hello Don,
You are right about the drections in Arkansas either just around the corner or right up the road. Occasionally, you might find someone that lives just down the road or over the the hill. Still, we do give odd directions and expect other people to knew exactly where we mean too.

    Thanks for commenting.

Oh yes, I know you are right Sister. The same sister I was telling you about last night works for the post office delivering mail. I can't wait to rib her about that one. She even went in on Sunday to work when she was full time so she wouldn't have such a rough Monday. I think she only works about three days a week anymore and her sub works the other four. It could be I have the four and three backwards.

Still, I think that the one being in one state and the other in another state would have helped them catch it.
