7/30/08 ~ FBI Issues Another Warning for the Storm Worm Virus Coming Through in Emails
Spread the Word. Warning Issued by the FBI
Fortunately, many of us are used to this kind of thing and already have email filters or a keen eye for plucking out something suspicious, but with millions of people entering the world wide web on a daily basis, for the first time no less, we really do need to stick together and help each other out, don't you think? So please do your part and spread the word ok? Send a copy of this article to your family, friends and close associates.
Notice at the bottom of the warning the FBI is asking that anyone receiving an email like this file an official complaint. I wonder how many people actually do that. Who has the time right? I know its probably seems about as helpful as sending a letter to your Congressman, but hey, it couldn't hurt either. Yes, it may be a hassle, but it may also help catch some of these sneaky no-gooders. Well, lest, I rant any further, here's the details of the warning just hitting the wires.
As of July 30, 2008, the F.B.I has issued another warning to all email users. Apparently The Storm Worm virus has raised it's ugly head again. The last time the Storm Worm virus came through was around Valentines day of this year.
Per the FBI website:
"Be on the lookout for spam e-mail which mentions "F.B.I. vs. facebook." The contents of this email is capable of spreading malicious software (malware). The e-mail directs the recipient to click on a link to view an article about the FBI and Facebook. Once the user clicks on the link, the "Storm Worm" malware is downloaded to the Internet-connected device, causing it to become infected with the virus and part of the Storm Worm botnet. A botnet is a network of compromised machines under the control of a single user. Botnets are typically set up to facilitate criminal activity such as spam e-mail, identity theft, denial of service attacks, and spreading malware to other machines on the Internet.
The Storm Worm virus has capitalized on various holidays and fictitious world events in the last year by sending millions of e-mails advertising an e-card link within the text of the spam e-mail.
Be wary of any e-mail received from an unknown sender. Do not open any unsolicited e-mail and do not click on any links provided.
If you have received this, or a similar e-mail, please file a complaint at www.ic3.gov."

Post a CommentSorry Ben Ladin or so to speak, the USA is not dumb, if so why do we have navy seals? Why are there satillites? No one is fooling anyone. The Veterans of Vietnam rules! That was a war, how would you like to walk the jungles with the black mambas and go to town with the children that welcomed you with a sack that carried a bomb? I could go on and on! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!
If the FBI ever lets me down I will know that there is no faith in America. I know that they have more knowledge of things that is never known by the by the public eye, if we wanted Bin Layn (or how ever you spell it) dead he would be dead by now! you can't tell me that the government knows everything we do and can't say where he is at? That is bogus! They have a plan I am sure of it! GOD BLESS THE USA!!!
I have the fullest faith in the FBI and the fondest appreciation I just hope that they never let me down!
did you know in the USA all email goes through a government filter for certain words and phrases? I once lived in the same apt. complex with one of the gov. employees who worked for the agency.
A scam is a scam is a scam. The FBI seal ony shows that we can all make copies of anything and post it on the web. If something seems a bit too good - or too odd to be beilieved, it probably is!
Yep been there, got that and the $120 bill to prove it. No fun. Thanks for letting others know. I pray this stops because it can destroy lives. *smiles back @cha* I pray all is well with you and your beautiful little family Mellisa. Love and Peace hun.
