"7th Heaven" - The End of an Era

Eleven years ago, a great family show appeared on the television screen. The name of this show is 7th Heaven. Through out these eleven years people have become devout watchers and critics of the show. Some families may have even grown up with the show. 7th Heaven is a show that teaches great family values and how to build strong family ties. It is a show that shows a family with everyday situations handled in very different ways than they are handled in the real world. I know I wish my family life was as simple as this show, but alas it isn't.

For those of you, who have not seen the show, let me give a brief description. The show revolves around the Camden family. Eric Camden whom is the father and a minister, Annie Camden whom is the stay at home mom and the one that tends to bind the family together, then there are the children of the family. The children going from oldest to youngest are Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie, and the twins Sam and David. Let is not forget the family dog Happy. The show provides everyday problems being dealt with through the lives a ministers family. The problems that are faced are ones such as alcoholism, racism, death, love, and just motley of different problems that are very real in the world today.

Most of us have grown and even felt the pain that the Camden family has always endured. Watching the kids grow through the years and the trouble they got into and how the issues were dealt with, have inspired me in what are the best ways to raise my own children and how to approach the issues that every child faces in the world.

Even though I personally see this as a great show, it is with a heavy heart that my wife and I say goodbye to the Camdens this mothers day. I guess eleven seasons of great family entertainment is too much to bear. This past Sunday for the series finale, reverend Eric Camden and family head out on a vacation to see America with no goals in sight. I only wish that they could have ended the show with all the camdens and their extended families. It would have been nice to see how everyone turned out. That didn't happen though. At least they didn't leave us hanging too bad like they did last season. I am sorry to see them go, but I hope that they all have wonderful futures especially for the younger actors and actresses. I am looking forward to the reunion show if and when they decide to have one.

I enjoyed watching 7th Heaven myself. I still like watching reruns of this show. It is one of my favorite television shows. I hate that it ended I am sure by now that all of the kids even the twins are about grown.

I'm not a big TV fan, but often tried to make time to watch this show because its family values theme reminded me of the old TV shows I watched from the 50s to the 70s.

Great article! I was always a big 7th Heaven fan until the final season - especially the series finale.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show during its 11 year run. I did find the final season to be somewhat disappointing. However, overall I believe the show will be missed. Great article.
