8 DIY Halloween Costumes that Don't Require Sewing

Michelle M. Guilbeau
Halloween costumes that don't require sewing are a life-saver. If you are not a sewer -- or are a sewer but just do not have the time to be sewing costumes for Halloween -- then no-sew Halloween costumes may just be what you are looking for. Not only can you put together a no sew costume but it can also be a cheap costume that looks great. Here are eight Halloween costumes that do not require any sewing.

Halloween Costumes: Bunch of Grapes Costume

Wear a lavender or purple hoodie sweat suit and attach purple balloons all over the hoodie sweatshirt. The trick with this costume is to safety pin the balloons on but making sure when you attach the balloons that you are putting the safety pin through the little tied off end of the balloon, the part past the knot. Obviously, if you poke the balloon it will pop. If you really want to have the layered effect you can also glue additional balloons in between the pinned on balloons. An optional idea is to also paint your face purple but it is not mandatory. I saw this costume at a Halloween parade a few years ago and it won "most original" costume and everyone was talking about it.

Halloween Costumes: Cowboy Costume

This one is pretty easy and there may be items you have for this costume already in your home. Wear jeans or corduroy pants, some type of plaid or flannel shirt, a vest, a cowboy hat and a bandanna around your neck. If you do not have a cowboy hat, cheap ones can be found at the dollar stores, even the plastic ones I have seen people wear and those look great too! An additional prop to carry that is fun and easy is a rope. You may want to smudge up your face with a dark type makeup to make it look like you have been working hard on the range all day.

Halloween Costumes: Couple Dice Costume

This one is great for couples and it is so easy! Take two large square boxes, cut out holes for the arms, cut out a hole for the head, cut off the flaps at the bottom of the box. Paint the boxes white and paint black circles on each side of the box to look like dice. Where a white sweat suit and your couple costume is complete!

Halloween Costumes: Dog Costume

This one is really cute and very comfortable. You can make this a Dalmatian dog costume or some other type of dog costume depending on the colors you use. If you would like to do a Dalmatian costume, use a white sweat suit and the top has to be a hoodie. Cut out black circles from felt and glue all over sweat suit with fabric glue. Pin or glue white socks on the hoodie to make ears, wear white socks on your hands. Optional accessories could be a collar, leash, dog toy and drawing whiskers on your face with makeup.

If you would like to do some other type of dog, you can use a brown, black or a tan color sweat suit. You can get very creative with this Halloween costume!

Halloween Costumes: Mummy Costume

Have someone wrap you tightly with white gauze letting pieces of the gauze hang off your body. Paint black and green colors on the gauze to give the gooey effect. Use white make up your face for that all over white effect.

Halloween Costumes: Bunch of Bubbles Costume

This costume is similar to the Bunch of Grapes Costume, the difference is you will want to wear a white or pink sweat suit and use white and/or pink balloons. A fun prop to carry around would be one of those brushes you use in the bathtub to wash your back.

Halloween Costumes: Clown Costume

There are many variations of a Clown Costume but an easy one to make would be to use any type of a brightly colored sweat suit such as red, blue, green or yellow. Glue or pin on colored felt strips around the neckline, wrists and ankles of the sweat suit, wear a brightly colored wig that you can get at any Halloween store. Paint your face clown style using face paint.

Halloween Costumes: Lamb Costume

This one would be easiest to put together for a baby or small child. Use white pajamas that have the feet or a white sweat suit and glue cotton balls all over the pajamas or sweat suit. An option is putting pink make up on the child's nose. This costume is super easy and adorable!

Halloween costumes are so fun and they do not have to be difficult to make. The costumes highlighted here are really easy to make, they are cheap costumes and the best part is they do not require any sewing!!!

Cute costume ideas. Of course, the most shocking Halloween costume I ever saw ALSO used balloons, but they were not grapes. Read "Flashy! a Rhyme Obscene on Halloween" - if you really want to know what they were. ;-0
