1. Go coupon shopping for food. With all the holidays right around the corner, special dinners are right along with them. Pay attention to coupons which offer discounts on items you use for the holiday dinners. Use the coupons at a store that offers double coupon discounts. If you are not sure which stores, either call or look online. In a few weeks you could have enough coupons, that really will make a significant difference.
2. Check out the sales starting now. Do not wait until a week before the holidays to do your holiday shopping. Instead, start looking at the sales now. Pick up items that you know are worth the sale price offered.
3. Buy in bulk. Frequent the wholesale clubs in your area, they offer many holiday items in bulk for a low price. Grab them while you have a chance before the holidays get to close.
4. Gift cards are the way to go. Buy $10 gift cards for everyone who is on your holiday list, can and will save you a lot of money during the holiday season. Pick and choose from over a 100 gifts cards, now a days there is one for everyone.
5. Make your own gifts for the holidays. Places such as the dollar store are great ways to budget your money during the holidays. Buy an array of different creams, powders, hair accessories and make gift baskets. No one will even realize how little you have actually spent.
6. Ask guests to bring one food item to holiday lunch/dinner. If you are having a holiday feast of some sort with friends attending. Ask each one to bring a covered dish. This will save money, as well as time.
7. Set limits on your spending. If you set a limit to your spending amount, and stick to it, this will save you plenty of money during the holiday season. For example : If you only have $500 to spend, set a limit of $20 each, per person. If the $20 is too much, then set the limit for $10 each. There are plenty of things that you can buy or make for just $10
8. Suggest to your family/friends the "secret Santa" idea. If you need to budget your money during the holidays, suggest to the people who you would like to buy for that each person pick one person to buy a gift for under $20. That way hundreds of dollars is not spent, and everyone does not feel obligated to buy a gift for all.
