1-Tree lighting Ceremony in Rockefeller Center- This features the lighting and display of a 65 ft tall and 35 ft wide Norway spruce tree, adorned with thousands of lights and ornaments. The lighting ceremony takes place on November 29 from 7-9pm and will feature pop artists and the Radio City Rockettes to perform and an ice skating show on the Rockefeller Ice Rink. The tree will remain lit from November 29- January 7, 2008 from 5:30am to 11:30pm daily. Rockefeller plaza is between 47th and 50th streets and 5th and 7th Avenues. The closest subways are the B/D/F/V to 47-50 St.s/ Rockefeller Center or 6 to 51st/ Lexington. Call 212-332-6868 for more information.
2- Tree lighting at Lincoln Center- this is the biggest rival to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting and it's located in Josie Robertson Plaza. The Lighting Ceremony is accompanied by the Metropolitan Opera, the Jazz at Lincoln center Orchestra and the New York City Ballet. The lighting ceremony is on November 27 at 5:30pm. It will remain on display from 11/27 to January 2.
3-Bronx Zoo Lighting-Features 150 animal sculptures and scenic creations illuminated in lights for a total of more than half a million lights al together. Located at 2300 Southern Blvd. Will be on display from 11/17 -1/7/08 Fri-Sun 5-9pm, December 18-21 and December 26-28 M-Thru 5-9pm. Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. 718-367-1010
4-Grand Central Kaleidoscope Light show-located at Lexington Ave at 42nd St. Features a choreographed audio visuals. On display December 1 to January 1 from 11am-9pm.
5-South Street Seaport- "Seaport Chorus Tree" - Located on Fulton St at South St. this tree lighting display features a 50 ft Douglas Fir and is accompanied by a performance by the Big Apple Chorus at it's unveiling and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights until Christmas Eve. The lighting ceremony is on November 24 at 6pm. And will remain on display 11/24 to 1/8/08. For more information call 212-732-8257
6- Bryant Park Tree Lighting- Located at 5th Ave at 42nd St. This ceremony features a tree from Quebec that is decorated by a designer from Toronto. The lighting Ceremony is 11/28 at 7pm and will remain on display from 11/28-1/5/08. For more information call 866-221-5157.
7- Metropolitan Museum Of Art- Located at 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd St. this tree lighting ceremony feature a 20 ft tall spruce adorned with 50 eighteenth century Neapolitan angels and figures. The lighting ceremony takes place 11/21 - 1/7/08 a Tue, Thru, Sun 3:30 and 4:30 and Fri and Sat at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30pm.It will remain on display 11/21-1/7 T-Thru Sun from 9:30-6:30 and Fri and Sat from 9:30-9pm.
8- Winter Garden Holiday Lights- Located at West St at Vesey St. Features45 foot tall palm trees and over 100,000 overhanging lights. Will be on display from November 28 to January 7 7am-midnight. 212-417-7000.
