8 Halloween Costumes for Cats & Dogs

Albert Chang
Halloween costumes for cats & dogs are the next level of Halloween costume entertainment. From witches to Easter bunnies, here are several costume ideas that your pets will be sure to love. Along with descriptions, suggestions on which pet these costumes are better suited for are also available. Just remember, experimentation is all right. If you feel the urge to try a costume on a cat rather than a dog, or vice versa, don't be afraid to try it!

Witches
I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of several witch costumes at Target this evening. They have nice witches, bad witches and many other witch costumes, though I'm not sure how nice or bad they are. Green faced, long haired, and very traditional, witches can be from any direction and are always allowed to wear heels. Cast magic only when absolutely necessary. When attempting to create or find a costume for your pet, glancing at human costumes to get an idea of what to make or find is easier. Just imagine a cat with a tiny witch hat!

Ghosts
All I can recall is the smell of the condensation of my oxygen mixing into the plastic of the mask. Ghost masks are often one of the scariest costumes out of the different types of ghost costumes. A big kicker are ghost buster costumes that glow in the dark. These are rarely seen in large groups, so take care this Halloween in case any glow-in-the-dark ghost mobs happen to boo you over! I've seen dogs with coats that keep them warm; try adding a small hood and an orange black leash.

Werewolves
One of the furthest traveling Halloween creatures, similar to sea turtles. Although wingless and lacking in the magic department, the moon provides werewolves with plenty of zest. Also, werewolves would probably have the easiest time riding bicycles. If you can't teach your dog or cat to ride a bicycle before this Halloween, you could always try next Halloween!

Vampires
Vampires have it all: Big fangs, mystical powers, who wouldn't want to flaunt a vampire costume this Halloween? Vampires have really big coffins. Unfortunately most costume sets don't come with coffins, but maybe a wagon or a coffin-shaped object would suffice for the Halloween spirit. Cats seem most likely to sport a cape.

Pumpkins
Giant pumpkins. Who doesn't want to dress up like a giant pumpkin and flit to and fro? Make sure others do not try to carve into you. The giant pumpkins used to be the proudest of the Halloween spirits, so make sure to change history and support giant pumpkins everywhere. Both cats and dogs can wear a big pumpkin costume without too much difficulty.

Pilgrims
Pilgrims technically were always in existence before and after Halloween. They are probably the highest pie-producing creatures out of this list of Halloween costumes. If it were any costumes I'd say were the ones to chase around giant pumpkins, it'd be pilgrim costume-goers. Stay on high alert. Just imagine a group of dogs in pilgrim costumes eating doggie treats and playing poker. It's amazing!

Fish
A newcomer to the Halloween costume scene, fish remain a mystery to most land-dwellers. Most fish costumes are easily prepared; though not as exciting as mermaid or mermen costumes, they are subtle and roundabout costumes that can allow for very creative design, especially for cats, although dogs swim a little better from what I've seen.

Easter bunnies
For the early birds (another costume favorite!), Easter bunnies would be the costume for costume makers everywhere! Even atheists would never bash on Easter bunnies! They also have the option of passing out their own candy, though it might be a little early. Good luck with creating an Easter bunny costume. I wonder if anyone wants a cat to wear an Easter bunny costume or a dog to wear an Easter bunny costume?
