8 Halloween Supersites

Essential Websites for People Who Love Halloween

Eliza Wynn

Plenty of websites are devoted to Halloween, but a few go beyond the norm to provide extensive information for anyone seeking Halloween-related fun. Whether you're into haunted attractions, do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, or something else, these eight Halloween supersites are valuable resources more than worth your time.

For Halloween activities taking place in your area, check Haunt World. This site tells you where to find your local haunted houses, haunted hayrides, and other Halloween attractions. This is a fantastic resource!

Horror Find is another great resource, and it's not just for Halloween; it's devoted to all things horror, including haunted attractions, dark artwork, and much more. This site is extensive, so make sure you have plenty of time when you visit; you'll want to make return visits to find all the info you need or want.

If you're into crafts and DIY projects, HauntProject is the site for you. Currently, it offers tutorials for more than 900 how-to projects for Halloween. Body parts, flying ghosts, animatronic props, and electronic projects are just a few of the tutorials you'll find. The owner of this ever-growing site personally approves every link before posting it, which means you won't find irrelevant or spammy links here.

One of the best and most extensive Halloween sites around is Caverns of Blood. With games, quizzes, a forum, and much more, it would be hard to run out of things to do.

The owner of Pumpkinrot decided long ago to celebrate the holiday by creating the ultimate Halloween yard. The website is a photo gallery of his Halloween creations, and they are incredible. Although it's the smallest site on the list, its graphic-intensive nature more than qualifies it to be a supersite.

Looking for a costume? Halloween Superstore is a gigantic source for costumes for people of all ages as well as for dogs. You can also find accessories and decorations.

The Cult of the Great Pumpkin is a "place for people who sincerely love Halloween." This site is loaded with anything and everything about the spooky holiday. Join and become a Pumpkinaut or just take a look at what the site has to offer.

As "the official magazine of Halloween," Halloween Online Magazine is dedicated to being the holiday's largest online resource. Technically, this is a family of websites; the main site offers several Halloween-related articles, while distributing other content to more than 40 other sites.

Whether you prefer to attend a Halloween attraction or create one of your own, you're sure to find valuable information and great ideas from these websites. No matter what your interests are, these Halloween supersites are worth checking out.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw pumpkinrot. Years ago, when my girls were really little, I bought our pumpkin early. I needed a place to put it so that it wouldn't be in the way, so I stuck it under a side table in the living room. After a couple of weeks, I started smelling something odd. The odor started getting stronger, until I finally figured out it was the pumpkin. I got down on my knees and reached under the table to pull it out, and it collapsed onto itself. I had inadvertently set it on top of a heating vent, and it had totally rotted. What a mess!
