8 Quick and Healthy After-School Snacks

I remember coming home from school when I was younger and my mom giving me vanilla wafers and a juice box for an after-school snack. It was fast and easy, and I liked my vanilla wafers and juice boxes. But, what if you are looking for quick and healthy after-school snacks? If you don't want to fill your child's belly with Gushers and soda after school, then try some of the quick and healthy after school snacks suggested below.

This quick and healthy after school snack is easy to make and a crowd pleaser, not to mention a great way to get your kids to eat more vegetables. All you need for this after school snack is some celery, peanut butter, and raisins. Simply fill the celery with peanut butter, and top it off with some raisins, and watch your kids chow down.

Trail Mix
Trail mix makes a great quick and healthy after school snack since it can be assembled on the weekend and stored in bulk to last you through the week. You can purchase dried fruits, mixed nuts, sunflower seeds, flaked coconut, mini chocolate chips, granola, and anything else that your child might enjoy in their trail mix. Throw all your ingredients in a bag, if you are including mini chocolate chips remember to limit the amount that you use to keep it healthy, shake up the ingredients so that they are mixed thoroughly, and store the trail mix in a Tupperware bowl or you can prepackage it in Ziplock bags to save you even more time during the week.

Vanilla Yogurt and Fresh Fruit
Allowing your child to mix their own flavor of yogurt every day after school is a great way to achieve a quick and healthy after school snack. You can purchase fresh or frozen fruits like blueberries, bananas, strawberries, a large container of vanilla yogurt, and even some granola for you kids to mix together as they choose every day after school.

Apple Slices and Peanut Butter
For a great quick and healthy after school snack you can slice up an apple, throw it on a plate with a glob of peanut butter and let your child dip their apple slices into the yummy peanut butter.

Cheese Quesadilla
Throwing some shredded Mexican cheese mix (the kind that you might purchase for tacos) on whole wheat tortillas, and then heating them in the microwave until the cheese is melted makes for one really quick and healthy after school snack.

Meat, Cheese, and Crackers
For a great quick and healthy after school snack you might try serving your child meat, cheese and crackers. Turkey pepperoni, brick cheddar, and Ritz crackers can easily be thrown together to calm your child's rumbling stomach after school.
