1. Steve Martin is a comedy genius. Steve Martin is great as George Banks. He does subtle and slapstick comedy well in this movie. He also has great chemistry with Diane Keaton.
2. Martin Short is hilarious as Frank, the wedding coordinator. This is his funniest role because of his accent. I had to re-watch some of the movie because I laughed so had when Martin Short came on screen.
3. Kimberly Williams plays a sweet bride to be. I like Kimberly Williams as Anne Banks. She has some touching scenes with Steve Martin. I love when he gives her the coffee machine and I also love the scene when they are talking outside the night before the wedding. Kimberly Williams holds her own with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Diane Keaton.
4. Diane Keaton plays calm well. Diane Keaton is the perfect on- screen wife, Nina Banks. She is a calming element when Steve Martin goes bananas over the cost of the wedding; $250 a head and a $1200 wedding cake. She also sets George straight about the wedding when he is in jail for stealing hot dog buns. I also loved the hot dog bun scene.
5. The ending is great. I love the ending of Father of the Bride. Diane Keaton and Steve Martin slow dancing to The Way You Look Tonight is lovely.
6. Two pregnancies are a great plot twist. I love that both Nina and Anne are pregnant together. I also like that Nina has a girl and Anne has a boy.
7. Frank and George bonding is touching. They bond in the hospital and while Frank is creating the baby's room. It is funny when George wants to name his baby Frank, if it is a boy.
8. The ending is sweet. The family saying goodbye to Anne is sweet. The audience finds out that Anne's Baby is named George. I also like that George is going to teach Meghan to play basketball. When Anne was little, he taught her to play basketball too.
I like movies because they are a great way to bring people together. Hollywood likes to make remakes and sequels to good movies. There have been some good remakes and there have been bad sequels. However, I have given movie lovers eight reasons to say I Do to the Father of the Bride movies.
