8 Simple Tips to Stay Healthy All Year Round

Common Sense on Cleanliness Helps Keep You Healthier

Rik Rodriguez
Working in the health field for all of my life and being exposed to bacteria and viruses everyday of my career has taught me many valuable lessons. First off I would like to say that most of us know that there are very few medications for viruses and certainly antibiotics are not one of them. Antibiotics are used for killing bacterial infections and the only way to tell if an antibiotic kills the bacteria in your body is to have a special test called a culture and sensitivity. The test is done on our blood or a swab from the area, it is cultured in a microbiology lab and the actual drug that you are going to be taking is placed in the culture. After a few days the culture is examined and it can easily be determined by sight if the drug is going to kill the bacteria that is growing in your body.

Here are 8 simple ways to keep the bacteria and virus's at bay in your life:

#1). Wash your hands several times a day. Even if you think they are not dirty, they probably are bacteria is hard to see.

#2). Take a shower daily and wear clean clothes.

#3). Always drink plenty of water. This is an easy one, but a very neglected issue for many of us.

#4). Try not to over eat, this one is pretty self explanatory

#5). If you eat processed, fast foods everyday, take a vitamin supplement.

#6). Find an activity that you enjoy to keep you more active.

#7). Use mouth wash, it's an easy way to keep the bacteria down in your mouth.

#8). Get proper rest. If you are tired all the time you cannot make proper decisions.

These 8 simple things that you can easily do everyday will help you to stay healthier during the cold and flu season or year round for that matter. They are not hard, most are common sense. Sure you can buy special herbal supplements that ward off colds and flu and they may even work, but they are probably not necessary to maintain your health unless you do not eat regularly and are stressed out all the time.

You have to think of yourself first, because if you do not maintain your health, no one will do it for you. Take care of yourself in the best manner possible, you deserve it.
