8 Things a Man Should Never Apologize For

Lauren Romano
When some men get into a relationship, for their partner, they change certain things they like or do things they dislike. Women aren't the only ones that apologize for unnecessary things. While making adjustments in a relationship is common, there are certain things that a man shouldn't feel the need to apologize for.

Watching sports

Many guys love sports and it's often a bonding experience with family and friends. You shouldn't apologize for watching sports a few times a week or spending an entire Sunday planted in front of the television if there is nothing else to do or nothing that needs to get done. If you prefer, ask your partner to join you and you can watch together.

Having a boys night

Just like women need girls night, guys need boys night as well. You shouldn't have to apologize for hanging out with friends. If she knows how important it is to you, it shouldn't be a problem.

Sticking with tradition

If you have a tradition you do annually, such as playing football with your friends Thanksgiving morning or going on a fishing trip, it's not something to ever apologize for. Make sure to bring it up to your partner beforehand in case she's planning a surprise for that day or makes a commitment to someone else for plans.

Sitting around in underwear

If you have some free time, no one is coming over and you want to sit around in your underwear and do nothing, so be it. If your partner takes issue with it and asks you to put on clothes, invite her to wander around in her underwear as well.

Hating shopping

Unless it involves buying or browsing typical guy items, such as electronics or tools, not many men are going to be excited to go shopping. If you really dislike shopping, there's no need to apologize for not wanting to go with your partner when you don't need to buy anything. If you tell your partner you dislike shopping, she should have no problem going with someone else that enjoys it.

Saying no to certain entertainment

While some men enjoy the opera, ballet and certain "girly" movies or are at least willing to give them a shot, there are many guys that have zero interest. You don't have to apologize for not wanting to watch entertainment you don't like, especially when it involves committing an hour or two to each. You like what you like and you shouldn't have to sit through it if you don't want to at all.

Not understanding women's sizes

If you're one of the men that wants to buy your partner an article of clothing but stands with a blank expression in the women's department of the store, you're not alone. Some women don't even understand women's sizes. You may want to leave the shopping to your partner or, if you really want to buy a clothing gift, request the help of a female friend or relative. Another option is to just take your partner to pick it out or give her a gift card.

Keeping phone conversations short

Many times when men communicate with each other via phone, they relay a message, talk for a few minutes and then get off the phone as quickly as possible. Some men just aren't long phone conversation people and it's not something to apologize for. Often it's not how long you're on the phone but what you say during that time that matters.

While there are some things that a man might need to apologize for, certain things can go without an "I'm sorry" especially when it comes to doing things you really like or don't like. Save the apologies for when it's really necessary.
