Go easy on the spreads. Butter, jelly and other condiments add extra calories to your breakfast. Stay within your diet and place only a teaspoon or less on your food.
Add vegetables to your dishes. Cut up onions, peppers, and mushrooms for your omelet. Slice cucumber chips and tomatoes to complement your butter and toast. Start your day off with a food that can cleanse your system and give you extra energy.
Use low-fat products. By reducing the fat you consume in the morning you'll improve your breakfast and waistline. Choose low-fat, tasty yogurt like "Light & Fit" and 2% milk.
Swap out white bread for multigrain bread. Unlike white bread, brown bread made of oats and other grains takes longer to digest and, as a result, won't spike your blood sugar levels. Considering the percentage of people in America who are pre-diabetic and diabetic, this is a big benefit.
Limit your consumption of juice. Juice, even the kind that is naturally squeezed, is full of sugar. Your teeth and digestive system suffer when you eat too much of this substance. Stick to drinking a small glass (4 ounces) and quench the rest of your thirst with water.
Treat bacon as a delicacy. Improve your breakfast by taking on this mentality toward this food and other forms of pork normally eaten in the morning like ham. Too much pork can boost your cholesterol levels and lead you down a dangerous road.
Cook your food at home. Fast-food a.m. meals are full of salt. After eating them, you end up bloated and sluggish. Try to make your meals at home and avoid this issue. If you can't get up in the morning, prepare your breakfast the night before so you can grab your meal and go.
Remember to eat fruit. By adding fruit to your breakfast you can satisfy your sweet tooth in a good way and also fight disease. Cut up peaches or oranges as sides. Or, put the traditional banana as a topping for cereal.
These 8 tips can help improve your breakfast and diet. You see that you don't necessarily have to cut anything out, just alter or limit how you consume the first meal of the day.
