Barden Talks Giants Injuries and Getting Better

The New York Giants are battling numerous injuries at the wide receiver position. Second year wideout Ramses Barden isn't too concerned about it.

"I don't think it (lack of players due to injuries) means anything extra," Barden said on Wednesday. "I'm going to continue to do what I need to do and what's asked of me. Whether it's me getting more responsibility, that's fine. I'm going to play to the best of my ability. If not, I'm going to continue to do what I'm asked to do, run a certain route, asked to fill a certain position or a certain slot, then I'm more than happy to do that."

Many a Giants fan is concerned about another second year wide receiver, Hakeem Nicks, who hyperextended his right knee at the end of Tuesday's practice. Barden believes Nicks will quickly bounce back, saying "Hakeem will be back, he's tough. Until then, everybody's going to keep grinding and pull together, and be a successful unit."

Barden, still developing into an NFL wide receiver, had a few slip-ups during practice on Tuesday. Barden isn't getting discouraged, saying "The idea is just to forget about it, try and figure out some things you can fix, and come back and get as strong as possible in the next opportunity."

Ramses Barden has the athleticism and hands to become a real red zone threat for the Giants as soon as the 2010 NFL season. With Nicks and wide receiver Mario Manningham battling injuries, Barden should get a few more reps in practices over the next few days (at least). Working with fellow WR Steve Smith and quarterback Eli Manning should only make Barden better with each day.
