You don't have to be a member of Generation X to love the 80s. We did everything bigger in the 80s. Big hair, big jewelry, big shoulder pads, big sweaters and big glasses were in. You couldn't have too many bracelets, earrings, necklaces or belts. The 80s can provide inspiration for great women's Halloween costumes and accessories. Here are a few totally awesome ideas that will help you create the 80s retro costume of your dreams.

Ideas for 80s Rock Diva Halloween Costumes and Accessories

Madonna was one of the most popular rock divas in the 80s. You can create an 80s Madonna Halloween costume with a pair of black pants or a black skirt, a lace bodice top and black leather jacket with gold accents. Get lots of rubber bracelets, long chains and beaded necklaces with religious pendants and lace gloves. Use a curling iron or hot rollers to curl your hair. Add long dangling earrings. Wear a black belt with a gold buckle. Then tease it upward and use lots of headbands or a bandanna and hair spray to keep it in place. Add a huge hair bow to make your 80s Madonna costume complete.

Cyndi Lauper was another favorite diva in the 80s. You can be as creative as you like with your Cyndi Lauper Halloween costume as long as you follow a few guidelines. Get a colorful sleeveless dress with a flared skirt. Get lots of sheer petticoats or crinolines of about the same length to go under the skirt. Wear lots of bracelets, ankle bracelets, necklaces and earrings at once. Also wear some fishnet or lace fingerless gloves with your 80s Cyndi Lauper costume. Your hair should be fairly long with bangs. Style your hair into a spiky hairdo. The bulk of the hair should be blond or red, but you can also spray other colors such as yellow or blue on your hair. Pluck your eyebrows to a slender line, then draw over them with eyeliner pencil. Get creative with your eye makeup. You can put a heavy strip of dark eyeshadow over the eyelid and inner crease of the eye, then put light colored eyeshadow directly under the brow. Or you could draw designs such as stripes or polka dots above and around the eyes. Finish the Cyndi Lauper makeup with any lipstick or blush that you like.

Ideas for 80s Aerobic Workout Halloween Costumes and Accessories

In the 80s Jane Fonda's aerobics outfits had a sleek, stylish look. When the rest of us were overdoing the accessories, she was paring down. You can create an easy and cheap aerobic workout Halloween costume based on Jane Fonda's fashions from the 80s. Find a colorful sleeveless or short sleeved leotard with a French cut leg. Also get a pair of tights with a matte or satin finish. Add a belt and a pair of leg warmers to the 80s Jane Fonda aerobics costume. Cut the feet out of the tights and allow the leg warmers to cover your heels. Style your hair with hot rollers and brush it back away from your face. Create a natural look using makeup in subtle earth tones like yellow, orange, green, brown and copper.
