83rd Academy Award Nominations: 'The King's Speech' Reigns with 12 (Full List of Nominees)
12 Nominations in All for 'The King's Speech' 10 for 'True Grit' Including Best Picture
Mo'Nique, who won for Best Supporting Actress last year, announced the nominations along with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President, Tom Sherak. Ten of the 24 categories were announced in a press conference with live streaming online and TV network morning shows broadcasting the announcement live to viewers at 5:38 a.m. PT.
Naturally every year there are the inevitable snubs like with Mark Wahlberg for Best Actor in "The Fighter." That film received a total of seven Academy Award nominations, primarily in the supporting acting categories. Mila Kunis did not receive a Best Supporting Actress nomination for "Black Swan" even though she was nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG Award. "Black Swan" received five nominations while "The Social Network" and "Inception" garnered eight each.
The 83rd Academy Awards will be televised live Sunday, February 27 on ABC starting at 8 p.m. ET. Kodak Theatre in Hollywood is the setting for the ceremonies. The telecast will be seen in over 200 countries. My predictions thus far are Best Picture: The King's Speech, Best Actor: Colin Firth, Best Actress: Annette Bening, Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale and Best Supporting Actress: Amy Adams. Here is the complete list of nominees from all 24 categories.
