8th Annual Blues Challenge Takes Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma August 27

Tulsa, Oklahoma- The Blues Society of Tulsa's 8th Annual Blues Challenge will take place at the VFW Post 577 on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Those individual soloists or bands, which are interested in vying for a chance to perform at Memphis, Tennessee's 2012 International Blues Challenge must submit their entries no later than July 29th.

The competition will take place on August 27th, as many soloists and bands perform for a unique opportunity to be sponsored by the Blues Society of Tulsa, while representing Northeastern Oklahoma at the International Blues Challenge from Jan 31-Feb 4, 2012.

The Blues Society of Tulsa's previous International Blues Challenge representatives have obtained much success, while competing in the event. The Society's own Joe McLerran won the Solo/Duo competition at the 2008 International Blues Challenge. Since the competition, McLerran has gained much notoriety and music gigs around the Country. Last year's Tulsa Blues Challenge winner, the Dustin Pittsley Band, performed at the event for two consecutive years.

Each year, bands in and around Oklahoma travel to Tulsa to compete in the Blues Challenge, vying for a chance to advance to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge.
