9 Tips to Get Rid of Acne

Jonathan Laberge
No matter what age you are, there are good chances that you have some acne. May it be the occasionnal "blowout" or the constant apparitions of new affected areas. In all cases, the methods remain the same to get rid of this problem or to at least help with it.

1- Don't manipulate your pimples. Picking at them, or trying to break them might just help the bacteria proliferate. This means, the bacteria will probably infect a wider range of your skin, and believe me, you don't want that to happen.

2- Try to keep oil away from your face, as this is what will block your pores. Keeping your hands out of your face is a good way to start. Also, try not to use oily products wether it be for your hair, your skin or anywhere close to the problem areas.

3- Although most pharmacists believe benzoyl is the best treatment for your acne, you could also try products containing sulfur or resorcinol. These will help unclog those pores of yours, and therefore cause less acne. There are over the counter products that contain these, ask your pharmacist about it.

4- Wash your face properly up to twice a day, but it is important to use mild soap, since you have sensitive skin. Use warm water and your fingertips. If your skin is real oily, use a soap that contains benzoyl peroxide, it will help dry it up a little. It's important though, not to abuse your skin! Facials, brushes, sponges or anything else that may be harsh for your skin are not good ideas. They may cause irritation and dryness, which isn't much better than acne.

5- Acne shouldn't be treated on only affected areas. You should also treat places where you could possibly breakout at, for example your back, forehead, etc... Just avoid the lips, the eyes and other areas that are sensitive like them.

6- Use water-based make-up. That way, there is less chance of blocking up your pores.

7- In the summer, use oil-free sunscreen. This will also reduce the risks of clogging up your pores.

8- Iodine is though to be a cause for acne by some specialists, so try to stay away from it. Check your vitamins or your table salt, they might contain them.

9- Besides of the iodine, it is highly improbable that your food intake has anything to do with your acne. Although it is better for your personal health to eat healthy foods, doing otherwise will not affect your acne.

There you go! Follow these 9 tips to success in your acne battle, it works for me, and it most probably could work for you! If you try this and nothing seems to work, I suggest you consider seeing a dermatologist to get yourself some further help.
