Recorded in Berlin in 1990, the album was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno. The album won a Grammy award for the band and, since its release, has become a top selling album for the U2.
The album cover features a strange collection of photographs. Some photos are in black and white, and some are in color. The eclectic images mirror U2's varying styles of progressive and alternative sounds featured on the album.
One, also recorded with U2 by Mary J. Blige, was a huge success, as well as, Mysterious Ways, and The Fly.
Here is the track listing for the album with a sample of lyrics from each song.
1. Zoo Station
No better song to kick off the album with. Attention, Baby!
lyric - '...I'm ready, ready for the laughing gas, I'm ready, ready for what's next...'
2. Even Better Than The Real Thing
Better than Coca Cola? You Betcha!
lyric - '...give me one more chance and you'll be satisfied...'
3. One
One of my favorite U2 songs ever. One of the bands videos featured buffaloes.
lyric - '... and I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt...'
4. Until The End Of The World
U2 played this one at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
lyric - '... I kissed your lips and you broke my heart...'
5. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
What are you going to do without me. Good luck.
lyric - '...don't turn around, and don't look back...'
6. So Cruel
I love you, you don't love me.
lyric - '...you say in love there are no rules, sweetheart, you're so cruel...'
7. The Fly
On tour for this 90's release, Bono became The Fly.
lyric - '...every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief...'
8. Mysterious Ways
It's alright. Another gem by the world's greatest rock band.
lyric - '...if you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel!...'
9. Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Be still. I'm coming to save you.
lyric - '...a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle...'
10. Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
One of the most under rated songs on this classic 90's album.
lyric - '...sometimes I feel like checking out...'
11. Acrobat
Up, down, in, out. A circus performer for your love.
lyric - '...and I must be an acrobat, to live talk this, and act like that...'
12. Love Is Blindness
The title says it all as U2 close out one their greatest efforts.
lyric - '...love is blindness, I don't want to see...'
U2 are Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.
The album and its songs are available on iTunes, amazon.com, Rhapsody, u2.com, and Best Buy

Post a CommentOne of the best albums EVER! Nice review! And I agree Artme, one of the best lines in a song "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" Which of course is all true!
When this album came out, I played it every day. It is a great collection of U2 songs. Thanks for comments so far.
