911 Call - Michael Brewer, Boy Set on Fire, Screams in Agony

Ms. Marie
You have probably seen in the news, read in the newspapers, or listened on the raido to the reports about 15-year-old Michael Brewer being burned alive, but when you hear his cries for help you will be brought to tears. The 911 call is very, very upsetting, but it needs to be heard because four of the teens who did this have only been charged with aggravated battery. Only one was charged with attempted second degree murder; due to laws, because he "flicked the lighter." Ask yourself this: Would Michael Brewer be alive if there had not been a swimming pool nearby?

I stand by my opinion in my previous article, "Teens Who Torched Michael Brewer Should Be Tried As Adults," which clearly expresses my reasoning. That article was written before I listened to the heartwrenching 911 call made reporting the crime. It has been reported repeatedly that a few of the teens that participated in, cornering, dousing and setting Michael Brewer on fire were in fact laughing afterwards. Sick! Evil!

The sound of this child's screams, be warned, is very hard to listen to. But it is extremely important that people understand the evil and cruel nature of this horrific act.

Listen to the 911 Call - Michael Brewer crying and begging for help after being set on fire, you will hear the woman who made the call say that his cloths were burnt and smoldering on his flesh...

The 5 teens who set Michael Brewer on fire, all willingly set out on a mission to get revenge on behalf of Matthew Bent. According to reports, Michael Brewer had borrowed $40 from Bent to buy a video game, and on Sunday 13 October 2009 Matthew Bent paid Michael Brewer a visit at his home to get his money back. Well, Michael Brewer did not have $40 to repay Bent, so Bent decided to steal a bike belonging to Michael Brewer's dad. The bike, it has been reported is valued at $500, which is really unimportant, however, the Brewer's pressed charges and Bent was arrested. He spent the night at the Juvenile Center, and was released Monday morning.

Today, a 15-year-old boy is in the hospital severely burned over more than 65% of his body because of fourty bucks, a deserving arrest, and 5 teens who are so disturbed and out of control that they felt justified in seeking revenge by dousing and lighting a living person on fire as a means of revenge.

Two things that Michael Brewer cries out when the 911 caller asks him what happened and who did it; first he knows something was poured on him, and secondly he says repeatedly he does not know who did it. This brings questions to one's mind. Is he afraid to "snitch" this time? Or was he attacked from behind and never even saw those five evil teens approaching? Reports say the vicious five teens were taunting him calling him a snitch, and that makes it seem that Michael Brewer was not only in agony, but silenced by his attackers.

This incident must remain in our minds because it needs to be handled in a way that will let other teens that may be thinking like those five teens - I can do whatever I feel and get away with it - that they will be punished to the fullest extent. We must push for justice. All of those involved need to be treated as adults, they all know that dousing "any thing" with something flammable will catch fire; they ALL knew what they were doing.

God be with Michael Brewer he did not deserve this, and let us pray for the best possible recovery.

This is such a tragedy. Great reporting. Teens seem to be getting more twisted. I agree they should be up on attempted murder charges.
