A 30 Million Retreat?!?

At a Time of Financial Crisis?!?

Tussy
A 30 million retreat?

in a time of crisis,

is ostentatious at best,

is this family clueless?

or maybe they are unaware,

that most of the people suffer.

A 30 million retreat?

is very difficult to beat,

while the rest of the country is cold,

the President-to-be is very bold,

taking the entire family on a holiday,

to a famous and expensive island get away.

A 30 million retreat?

it must be nice to be the First Lady,

you play in the sun all day,

enjoying a climate that is balmy,

while the rest of the country,

are shivering in cold and counting each penny.

A 30 million retreat?

in my part of the world,

there is a law so old,

outrageous and ostentatious display,

of wealth for all to see,

in times of crisis like this,

can be restrained by the government, no less.

And with letters to supporters to help pay election bills....beautifully expressed Tussy!

This kind of stuff really makes my stomach churn. Why are some people so selfish ... they could help so many others with that money but instead choose to ... oh well, spouting off about it won't change anything. I just think it's a shame.

Oh, I agree with this. I just couldn't have expressed it as beautifully as you. Wonderful work. :-)

It would be hard to imagine blowing money like that, at least for myself anyway! People who have never had to worry about it take it for granted easily. Just my opinion, though!

His money...His choice. Keep writing though.

You know, I kind of thought the same thing. But then I thought, "If I had that kind of money, I'd probably spend it too." The place they're staying in is gorgeous. Enjoyed your poem. :-) Happy Holidays!

It may sound extravagent but when you think about how much work this man has to do over the next 4 years and how much his family will be put through, I'm sure it's a good idea to get a little rest first. Plus, I'm assuming this is his money and therefore his choice.
