A 5 Step Guide for Getting Rid of Coackroaches Organically

Deter the Pests Without Poisioning Yourself, Your Pets, or Your Family!

Cockroach. This a word many of us would like to delete from our vocabularies. But no matter how much we'd like to pretend these pesky insects will never invade our homes, they do. How do we get rid of these unwanted little beasts in an earth-friendly manner? I submit to you this 5 step guide.

#1. All-Natural Extermination Products

One very effective product is Safe Insecticide's "Bugs 'R Done." Utilization natural oils found in orange peels, "Bugs 'R Done" safely repels and kills ants, roaches, flies, mosquito's and fleas. While traditional cockroach repellents use chemicals which are dangerous for small children and pets, "Bugs R Done" relies on the same all-natural repellent plants use to kill insects.

#2. D.I.Y. Traps

One very effective way to find where the cockroaches in your house hangout, is by setting some D.I.Y. salad-bowl traps. Here's how it works: grab some Vaseline, and rub it around the inside walls of a salad, or multiple salad bowls. Next, place food scraps, and a damp towel in the bottom of the bowl(s). Create a "ramp" up to the bowl(s) with another water damped towel. Cockroaches will go in, but they won't go out.

#3. Cat-Nip Tea

This next solution may not work for you if you own cats; however, if you're a dog owner, spray away! Cat-nip is another powerful, all-natural cockroach repellent. To make cat-nip spray, first, simmer cat-nip in hot water, making a cat-nip "tea." Next, take the cat-nip tea and put it into a spray bottle. Finally, spray problem areas twice daily as needed.

#4. Vacuum often

I know this sounds silly, but vacuuming really helps! Sometimes we can't always see cockroaches' egg-cases. Making sure you vacuum every day, hitting hard-reaching corners vigorously, can drastically reduce the reproductive power of your house's cockroach infestation.
As a general rule, the cleaner you keep your house, the smaller the chance of a cockroach infestation. Get militant about cleanliness. Eliminate left-out food and beverages. Sweep and mop your kitchen at least once daily to remove all crumbs leftover from food preparation!

#5. Diatomaceous earth

The good folks over at Ask The Exterminator have another suggestion if the above four fail. Diatomaceous earth. In an article titled "Organic Cockroach Control," the following explanation is given.
"Diatomaceous earth is a type of sharp edged, brittle soil that irritates the waxy exoskeleton skin of cockroaches. As the tiny particles cut up the outer shell, the cockroach gets dehydrated and eventually dies. Sprinkling some of this on top of cabinetry or behind appliances will help curb the roaches' enthusiasm for your home."

In conclusion, I understand that it's hard to stay tuff on bugs, while staying kind to the environment, but remember, the cockroaches have been here for 300 million years, and they are not leaving anytime soon. You can keep the bugs away, while keeping the planet, your family, and yourself, in a safe, poison-free environment.
