A Bad Year in Hollywood: Celebrity Deaths that Are Mourned by All

Matthew Shively
This year has been a bad year for the people that most know best from television and music. In just recent weeks some of the most notable figures in America and the world for that matter have departed us and will truly be missed by millions. All you have seen lately in the headlines is how so many famous have died or are dieing.

As I sat down and watched TV this evening I noticed a commercial on television that really made me think about things. It was just another Oxy commercial that starred the famous Billy Mays, a man that lived to the age of 50 who lived a great life selling some of the best gadgets and cleaners that I currently use today. I was thinking why all of a sudden it seems like so many people are all of a sudden dieing and many for unknown reasons. I mean just a few days ago the "King of Pop" Michael Jackson, a man known for his music as just a young child to the music that many listen to today, died for unknown reasons. Let's not forget our beautiful Charlie Angel Farrah Fawcett who recently died as well.

It is times like these that make you wonder about what or who's next. I know that sounds morbid but it has certainly crossed my mind. Outside of the big names let's take a moment and look at those that have touched our lives in one way or another through television and music: Fred Travalena, died at age 66 and was a man known for so long for his impersonations and ways of making people laugh; Billy Mays, died at age 50 and a man known for the famous OxyClean infomercials that had such an up-beat personality and voice that just made you want to buy a product; Michael Jackson, died at age 50 and known for creating some of the best pop music that many still listen to today; Farrah Fawcett, died at age 62 and known for being one of the Charlie's Angels and multiple other films that kept us glued to the television to see what she would do next; and Ed McMahon, died at age 86, a man known for his smile on television and the laughs he created, let's not forget that million dollars from the Publisher's Clearing House. Now these are only a few of the many musicians and television personalities that have recently died and will truly be missed by all.

This is an opportune time to think about all the ones we love and hold them tight, give them a call, or just visit to say hello. Live our lives to the fullest and never have regrets. We are all in mourning for these loss' that will remain in history and our lives that new them for what they have done for us forever.

Thank you Mallory. I am a very compassionate person and believe you are right on target. Keeping in touch with loved ones is important and should be a routine. Even the ones you love but don't like should get a call. You never know what will happen. Tomorrow is a new day.
