A Ball for All

T. Ramaswamy
A football match was in progress. Players in the field were fighting for the ball vigorously. The spectators shouted and whistled expressing their joy over their team's performance alternately.Soon a rustic villager came along with his urban friend. He could not appreciate or understand the subtlie nature of the game. All that he saw was that twenty two persons were fighting for a single ball. He took pity on them and told the organizers of the match;
" Look. I don't think there is famine for footballs in our country.Get each one of them a football so that they stop to fight against one another."
Those who heard the conversation laughed and laughed. The match was over. But the memories of the rustic conversation followed wherever they went.
