A Bargain Trip to Paris, France

Traveling to Paris on a Limited Budget

Paris, France, is not a city noted for being a highly economical city to vacation in, however they are bargains to be found for the budget conscious traveler. The first thing I recommend doing to plan out a bargain trip is to actually assess what you want from the Parisian experience. Do you want to spend the day in a hotel with a view of Paris, or do you want to actually get out and explore the city by foot and metro and only use your hotel room for a place to lay your weary head at night?

This article is going to presume you want to visit Paris and spend your money on the city instead of on a hotel. In this case, the Hotel Aux Trois Portes will be an excellent option for a stay. The Hotel Aux Trois Portes is located at 44 Boulevard Richard Lenoir in Paris, FR (Code: 75011 with phone number of 866-539-0036 for those interested in further information). The accommodations in this hotel are not five star or even four star, but they are completely passable for sleeping at night and cleaning up for a new day on the town.

At a cost of approximately a $100 per night for a hotel conveniently located within walking distance of Notre Dame and a Metro station, this destination offers a great jumping off point for additional exploration of the city of Paris. This especially holds true for visitors arriving via air or train as the hotel does not have readily available parking for guests.

An additional good point of the Hotel Aux Trois Portes is its nearness to an American stand-by fast food restaurant, McDonalds. Even if you are not a fan of McDonalds in general, the food is a good bargain compared to cuisine at many local eateries. While any true visitor to Paris will want to sample these local cafes, McDonalds can provide a quick and cheap diversion during a walking tour.

The best alternative to eating a fattening American fast food meal while visiting Paris, France is to visit a small market instead and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables as well as French breads and put together your own lunch to enjoy on a park bench. Monoprix stores carry a little bit of everything including food and sandwiches. One Monoprix store is located at 52 Avenue Champs Elysées in Paris.

By staying at a budget hotel and shopping a smaller store for food, a visitor to Paris can enjoy the sights and the sounds of the city for far less than the typical tourist and actually get to interact with Parisians and the real Paris more than many do.

Cool! A friend of mine is going there this summer and has been searching for cheap housing (apparently the hostels she contacted are all booked). Will forward her this article. Thanks very much! :o)
