Examples of Minimalist Furniture: Couches
For most who enjoy the minimalist design, the furniture also tends to be very modern in appearance. This is generally because modern furniture tends to feature clean lines and is free of any unnecessary adornment. For example, this 3 seat Renaissance sofa features too many details to fit into a minimalist living room.
However, choosing this diamond sofa (reminiscent of Le Corbusier's style,) would fit in perfectly. The clean lines are free from excessive detail, making it a perfect fit. Not interested in the ultra-mod look? Consider finding a sofa with a little bit less and a little bit more. This 3 seat sofa has a touch of Asian inspiration but is still very, very minimalist.
Minimalist Details
Even the details in the minimalist style should be relatively decorative detail free. Of course, that's not to say they're without design; they're simply clean in an expressive, appealing way.
It can be difficult to find furniture entirely fitting of the minimalist style. In many cases, perhaps you've found the perfect dresser with clean lines but the drawer knobs are just a little too detailed. This is actually an easy fix as you can easily swap out the knobs for something a little more modern and minimal. For example, the little details of this Kohler Memoirs knob make it acceptable for minimalist design, without being too flashy or overbearing for the style.
Lighting for Minimalist Decor
When it comes to lighting, "less is more" may not necessarily apply. Though your chosen light fixtures should be minimal in appearance, you still need to create adequate lighting your home; making minimalist lighting a tricky situation.
The eye-catching design of this contemporary/modern styled table lamp works well for minimalist design. The shade and the lamp base both feature clean lines and there are no "too-much" details present, so it's perfect for minimalist design. However, keep in mind that you can have some details in the room; after all, it wouldn't be a house without a touch of your own style to it. Don't be afraid to mix and match, though the rest of the room can be minimalist, you can have a statement piece lamp or piece of art to give the room some flair.
Minimalist design must be something you're dedicated to. It's definitely not for everyone, but the clean, attractive style can be appealing.
