A Beautiful Spring Day in January

Jean Davis
Deep in the heart of winter the snow still lingering in white patches on the ground

We're bundled up in layers of clothing waiting for the bluebird to return with his melodious sound.

Summer seems so long ago and we have forgotten how we were sweltering in the heat.

It is certainly not the time now to go out in our bare feet.

All of a sudden we wake up to a beautiful sunrise the wind so peaceful and still.

We put on our jacket and walk outside.

We think we hear a mockingbird's trill.

No, it's only my imagination. No bird in sight.

It's still January but it's spring temperatures all right.

We shed our jacket and bask in the sun.

It's a day to treasure, no doubt.

If we happen to travel down the highway we may see that Mr. Groundhog has ventured out.

Have you ever noticed our spirit can get the winter doldrums and we're not quite sure why we feel the way we do?

All at once God sends a blessing lifting our spirit and the Son comes shining through.

I enjoyed the pointed rhymes and the contrast between the sun as the Son. This is a fun reminder! If you get a chance please check out my new piece, As Descartes. Cheers!
