A Beer for Every Day of the Week

7 Absolutely Wonderful, Tasty Beers that I Love, and You Will Too

Nothing beats beer

Refreshing and satisfying, there's nothing like a good beer after a hard day's work.
Come to think of it, a good beer is good just about any time--before work, during a lunch break, just before bed.

And why not? Not only does beer make you feel good, it's good for you in moderation.

Consider the facts. Beer is lower in calories than whole milk and soft drinks. It doesn't have any fat; and it has protein, vitamins and minerals.

You get the picture-it's pretty hard to top a nice cold one.

So, with that in mind, I decided to create my top list of beers.

There's a special brew on tap for every day of the week. So, print this out and celebrate beer week whenever you feel like it.

Slainte!

Monday
Heineken

For those who love beer, there is nothing like a dry, icy Heineken.

Heineken's key ingredient, bottom-fermenting yeast, was engineered by one of the students of Louis Pasteur, the father of pasteurization and the rabies vaccine.

This yeast along with other ingredients combined in the proper ratios make Heineken's formula just right, creating a beer that is neither too strong nor too weak. It's the poster child for a "happy medium," and that is what most beer drinkers look for. In my opinion, having a beer belly is worth it if is caused by beers like Heineken.

Tuesday
Carlsberg

Carlsberg, is without a doubt one of the finest lagers around.

It has a nice mellow taste and isn't too bitter or too sweet.

It is one of the few that is smooth and doesn't have a grainy aftertaste.

The lager's frothy head settles nicely, and maintains itself almost to the end of the drink.

It also smells purdy (well as good as a beer can smeel anyway). Oh, and if you're looking for a buzz; this baby's for you.

Wednesday
Stella Artois

When Marlon Brando was crying out for Stella in a Streetcar Named Desire, he wasn't talking about a dame, he was talking about beer--I'm convinced.

And rightly so since Stella is a quality lager. Once you've downed your first, she's not easy to forget.

The "texture" of the beer itself could be described as fizzy, but once you've swallowed it you notice two things immediately: The strength of the beer (5.2 percent alcohol content) and its smoothness.

Legend has it that Belgian St. Arnoldus first brewed Stella Artois in the 14th century.

Even though Stella is called "Belgiums original beer," it's actually made right outside of London in Luton.

Thursday
Carling

Crisp. Cheap. Intoxicating.

Carling is the king of economy beers.

It is a classic bubbly beer that is best when its ice cold. Its taste is very sharp and crisp. It is easily just as or more palatable than Carlsberg and Heineken.

As for looks, Carling is a very attractive beer. It looks like what beer should look like; it isn't too light and it isn't too dark.

This is a very good medium-strength beer that is perfect for a lot of people out there.

Friday
Miller

Refreshing. Crisp. Tasty.

Miller Genuine Draft is the original cold filtered beer.

Since its introduction in 1986 has won numerous awards. The head is small but it is very sturdy, staying with you in the glass all the way.

The first thing you notice when MGD hits your mouth is just how fresh and chilled it feels.

It is a very refreshing and crisp beer which makes it a great drink.

Saturday
Sam Adams

Samuel Adams Lager was first brewed in 1984.

In its first five years, it went on to become the first American beer to be sold in Germany. This is due no doubt to the company's commitment to pure and natural ingredients such as bottom fermenting yeast, barley, caramel and hops and a traditional brewing process.

At 4.75 percent ABV This is a rounded well built beer. The first taste is quite complex: hoppy, strong malt, bitter; yes but with a certain aromatic and citrus sweet bite.

It leaves a lasting refreshing bitterness on the palate after swallowing. The overall finish is crisp and very refreshing. It is extremely balanced and well-rounded though not too complex.

Sunday
Amstel

Because I am big beer drinker, I have tried hundreds of lagers. This is, without a doubt, definitely one of the best.

As far as taste goes, it has a smooth hoppy taste that reminds me a little of Heineken and a light , crisp texture.

Because it's ABV is around 4 percent, expect to have to down a few before getting buzzed. All-in-all, it's good stuff if you can get it.

And now ...for those who live in a world with 8-day weeks... A bonus

While all these beers are good throughout the normal week, the best beer I ever had... the only beer I drink on special occasions is...drumroll please...the beer that I make myself at home when I'm not too tired from the daily grind.

I learned how to make my own beer with this book. I especially liked the fact that I had all the ingredients and tools this book lists lying around my house.
