Leveling up in Tibia by hunting monsters is great. Your health and magic will advance as well as your capacity allowing you to carry more essential items. Leveling up alone though will only get you so far. Your skills are what determines your strength as a warrior or magician. A knight at level 20 with sword fighting skills being 70 and shielding being 65 can easily defeat a knight of level 30+ with weaker skills. The same goes for either of the magic casting classes.
Knights need to have good skills early on in his lifetime. Try and have your weapon skill (Axe, Club, Spear, or Sword) around 45 or more by time you reach level 15, also try and keep your shielding up around the same level. The best thing to do to advance in your skills would be one of two things, one find a partner you trust, like on of your friends. Party up using the invite to party feature and strap on a weapon according to your friends level. If they are the same level or lower use one of your weaker weapons so you won't kill them.
Once you two are partied up set your character for a full or half and half attack pattern. Then attack your partner, this will advance your skills very fast, just make sure that you watch his power and stop when he asks you. This form of training can be very profitable, and if your friend wants to join in by attacking you as well that's great because you can use your light healing spell to advance magic while healing. This is important because you need to reach magic level 4 before you can use the all important Ultimate Healing rune.
The second training option is to find a sorcerer or druid that you can trust, and they have to be level 25+. Once a sorcerer or druid reaches this key level they can summon creatures, and the best thing for a knight is if they summon a Monk and allow you're to attempt to kill it. Monks are very strong and continually cast healing spells on themselves allowing you, the knight endless hours of training. This also works for the summoner because as you sit there and attack their creature they can make runes and gain magic points. Be sure to remember to be nice to the person who summoned the Monk, bring them food to replenish their mana as a thank you. Be warned though that you can't really train your shielding this way because a level 25+ magic caster might be too much to handle.
Paladins are a bit harder to train, their primary weapon is a bow and arrow and if you buy arrows rather then make them you could be out a lot of cash in the long run. For this reason a paladin in training needs to know the "Conjure Arrow" spell before attempting to train. Once you know this spell find a partner or spell caster and do what the knights do. A Paladin wants to shoot for Distance fighting levels at around 45 to 50 before level 20. Be sure to find a friend you trust to help level up your shielding, although Paladins are long rang fighters so shielding is not really too big of a concern.
For knights and paladins that want to train and have no one to train with there is a solution. Find a group of weak monsters, like Minotaurs or Rotworms, then allow them to attack you. This is not the best way to train but a lot of times it's the only way, also you can level up your weapon attribute, but be sure to use a really weak weapon, like a hand axe, spiked club, or kitana this will allow the monsters to survive longer and get you the same results.
Magic casters like Druids and Sorcerers have a very hard time with shielding. Their magic level advances extremely quickly, but everything else will hardly move. As a magic caster your main hope of survival is your arsenal of spells so don't worry about anything else but that. Find a nice safe area that you won't be bothered at and set about casting your spells. Carry a lot of food to replenish your mana and if you can make runes. Runes like Sudden Death and Ultimate Healing will sell for a nice bit of cash to other players so be sure to try and make some profit while sitting around. Magic casters also need to worry about leveling up because their spells depend on their level, as you level up you receive more mana which is key to a spell caster.
Attack runes like Heavy Magic Missel and Sudden death are a spell casters main means of attack or defense. Their power directly reflects your magic level so the better your magic level the more powerful your attack runes become. Also, your magic level is reflected in your healing spells. Ultimate Healing and Intermediate Healing rune's strength depends on the caster.
So there you go, a beginner's guide to leveling up their skills in Tibia. Just remember that when training with a friend make sure You can trust them, not everyone in the gaming world is nice so just watch out. See you in Tibia!
