2009 may be one of the greatest years for hip hop ever, who said that hip hop is dead. Because in 2009, we can't understand what your saying, you know what I mean. This is epic, some of the greatest artist ever will be releasing albums this year.
On a more serious note, these may be the last albums for some of these rappers, especially Jay-Z,Dr.Dre and Eminem. Dr.Dre is in his mid forties, but who knows with him, he could probably put out an album when he is fifty and it will still be good. He does seem unmotivated to put out his album, and has seemed a bit lazy for the past ten years we have been waiting.
Eminem with his new album, Relapse, certainly sounds like it will be his last, he seems like he just wants out the game, and has a few things to get off his chest before he leaves. Especially about Proof and his death among other things as well as his recent 2nd divorce with his wife Kim. His album is sure to contain a lot of controversial material, it always does.
Jay-Z has been saying that "this is my last album" for his last two albums now, so you can never really be sure if it's just a marketing ploy to sell more records, or if he really is undecided about whether or not he should retire or not. We will see, because personally I wasn't feeling that last album, maybe he needs to put out a good old banger before he retires, we'll see.
At any rate 2009 looks like a great time for Hip-Hop, maybe one of the last golden years and the signaling of the end of an era of great artist. I sure hope that isn't the case, but 2009 will be a great year for hip hop as a whole. We've been waiting years for some of these artist to come out with albums and they are finally here and coming soon.
