A New Breed of Search Engine: Website Review of Associated Content.com

Writers, Researchers and "Surfers" Alike Can Find What They Need on This Website

Kaylee Todd
Associated Content.com defines itself as "The People's Media Company," and, while it will never replace Google or Yahoo or any of the other premier search engines, it is a unique alternative site when you are doing an Internet search because it provides searchers with ARTICLES about a given topic, not just a list of website hits.

This concept can be useful if you are looking for an idea to write about, a different point of view, a new angle. Needing to write an English Literature research paper on "Hamlet"? Type "Hamlet" in the Search box and you are rewarded with 568 "hits". NO, they aren't all about the play, but enough of them are that you can immerse yourself in many different angles regarding the topic by reading a dozen or more articles, and maybe find just the angle you are looking for!

Associated Content was not developed to be a search engine. They are a content provider and they tie Google AdSense ads to the articles written by their writers, known as Content Producers (CPs). But these CPs write about what they know - the best restaurants, hotels, entertainment, daycare options, senior citizen homes, and much, much more. They share their knowledge about their careers, their lives, their mistakes, their dreams, their heartaches, their opinions.

And they do have opinions on ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING - from the war in Iraq (3260 hits) to the best way to remove a stain (256 hits). These CPs also report breaking news - even though (at the time of this writing) they are not paid for their news stories - and they fill the site with their humor articles, their poetry and their prose, even though they also currently do that for free.

The Associated Content website is filled with unique and original poems, short stories, even chapter novels. Writing of just about any type and genre imaginable, (except for erotica or pornography, of course), can be found on Associated Content. It is a truly interesting way to spend a couple of hours online, even if you are just reading for pleasure!

Why do Content Producers write for Associated Content? Because they get paid! While the list of websites which "allows" writers to write and submit their articles, tips, know-hows, etc. FOR FREE continues to grow exponentially every day, Associated Content actually PAYS writers for their articles. Their website indicates that they pay "between $3-$40" for articles, but most articles will fetch between $4-$10 dollars.

You'll never get rich writing for Associated Content, but if you are a prolific writer with a wealth of ideas for articles, you can be steadily employed and earning at least enough money to pay some of the bills, start a mad-money or Christmas fund, or just save up for that digital camera, new bicycle or other luxury you've been lusting after. The pay may not be great, but it is consistent and you generally get paid for an article within 5-7 business days after submitting it for publication. No more waiting 6 months or more for that rejection letter!!

So the next time you need to find a cozy bed and breakfast in Texas (222 hits), a recipe for a vegetarian dish (112 hits), an herbal remedy for what ails you (946 hits), or an idea for a theme party (1150 hits), go to www.associatedcontent.com first and you may not need to go anywhere else!

AC should promote this through the search engine somehow.

AC should use this in their advertising. I never thought of using the site as a search engine!

I don't know why this isn't getting hits. I have gotten caught up in reading here. Sometimes you read one article and find your self clicking others. Before you know it the day is gone.

This was a very well-written article. The little bits of research really added to it. Great job.
