A Brief Guide about Survey Qualifiers

Completing Surveys Can Be Fun If You Can Qualify!

Elizabeth Amaro
If you complete surveys for compensation, I know you are familiar with these words, "If you qualify and complete this survey, you'll receive...."

Do you find that you get a lot of requests to complete the initial qualifier questions for a survey and almost always you do not qualify? If you are in this boat, then you can do something about it. It will take a little time, but the time is well worth the effort.

One of the things you might notice when you join a survey company is that they ask you to fill out demographic surveys. Most of these surveys are voluntary and do not have any form of compensation attached to them. However, the more information a survey company has about your common practices, the more focussed the group they put you in.

For example, if you get a survey that intends to find out what kind of yard markers you are likely to buy, but you don't even know what yard markers are, maybe you don't own a home and you don't even have a yard because you rent a condo on the third floor, then you will definitely not qualify for this survey. Why waste your time trying to fill out the qualifier.

Unfortunately most times, the qualifiers don't come with an explanation that tells you the topic of the survey you're going to be completing. I believe this is to avoid fraudulent behavior. So how do you get survey invitations that you will qualify for? Fill out those demographic surveys on your account.

Do you avoid filling out those demographic surveys, because you are concerned that your personal information will be publicized? It is true that the information you provide may be personal in nature, but you are dealing with market research companies. In order for them to get the most accurate information about the group you represent, they may need to know a little bit more than your name. The most personal question I have come across is about my birth date and the names and birth dates of the other members of my immediate household. Other than that very personal question, the other questions are less personal in nature.

For example, if you are filling out an automotive questionnaire, you may be asked what kind of car you drive, if you plan on buying a car anytime soon, the year and make of the car and maybe even why you preferred that make over another. Another example would be if you are filling out a questionnaire about basic shopping habits. You might be asked several questions concerning the stores you frequent, the products you purchase from cleaning products to food products and the like.

Filling out demographic surveys are optional. You can even decide which demographic surveys you are willing to fill out and ignore others. It's all up to you. However, the point of this article is to show you how to qualify. This is not a guaranty that all surveys invitations will suit you and your life style, but it will improve your chances of qualifying and that means more cash, gifts and gift cards.
