A Brief Look at The Miami Dolphins

S.Port
The Miami Dolphins got their start as an expansion team in 1965. After a slow start the franchise brought along Don Shula form the Baltimore Colts. Shula was responsible for their first playoff appearance in 1969. Through the early 70's the Dolphins would dominate the league in regular season. They would become the first team to make an appearance in three consecutive Super Bowls.

The first was disappointment with a match with the Dallas Cowboys witch they lost 24-3 reported by sportsecyclopedia. The second will stand in the record books as the perfect season. The Dolphins would claim the title of Super Bowl champions with an undefeated record, one that still stands today. The game was a close contest against the Washington Redskins who had recently invested extra money to secure a Super Bowl win.

Over the course of the season the Dolphins would set many offensive records and single records but it was the defense that was underrated in the final assessment. The defense would be known as the "No-names," who eventually ended the season ranked as the highest defense. The next season they would reach the Super Bowl yet again. Facing the Minnesota Vikings in 1973 the Dolphins would blow out their competition. They became the first team to reach 3 straight Super Bowls and would make a run for a fourth stated by NFL History. With another impressive season a shot at the title seemed very possible but the Oakland Raiders would end their hopes in the first round of the playoffs.

In 1983 distinct coach Don Shula introduced Dan Marino to the roster. Though Marino would be consistent through his years, the rest of the Dolphins would not. They would fall into a minor slump that made it hard for them to regain their old habits. Hey would once again make it to the NFC championship but fall in a poor effort to the Buffalo Bills. Miami would make the playoffs numerous times but still have yet to make it back to the Super Bowl. Marino would retire as a Dolphin in 1999 said by Jt-Sw and end his season with Hall of Fame status. He would be named as one of the top players to ever play the game.

Miami has made many attempt to regain their swagger but have yet to reach it. In 2007 they would finish the regular season with one win, defeating the Baltimore Ravens in an double overtime drama. The recent slump would prompt the hiring of Cowboy's head coach Bill Parcells to oversee all actions.
