A Bright Day

T. H. Pankey
Heaven's ruler of day on earth,
give us this day, for all it's worth.
We're asking but that's not to say,
we're asking in a selfish way.
You know how much we've learned since birth.

I've looked around and seen the dearth;
is it not time for complete mirth?
Nevertheless, just you hold sway,
heaven's ruler of day on earth.

Creator of our home and hearth,
again we ask, give it full girth:
Let it crowd out the dark decay.
Cause our brightness for us today,
beyond the past, and today's firth,
heaven's ruler of day on earth.
