As fated outcast and retch mingle well
And might so find the devil ere their leave
May then that some stray all knowing for sell,
On lark or pressing hope of dream deferred,
Pressure and fear of coop and of hammer,
Into early morn, fractured voices slurred,
Alive, breath and pulse, the city Clamor;
Though as of yet not fully found nor held,
For any span at real peace with the clock,
Like reception of any yoke dispelled
Contented in sublime artistic shock;
From this, all that was, enrich fertile soil
That then restraint take leave and blood may boil.

Nicely done. I get more from this with every read. Like the Langston Hughes reference. I'll bet the Carpathians are steeper than a crystal stair. (Thanks for the comment!Adding you to faves.)
Love the classic style of this poem.
The dark humor that runs beneath your verbiosity, tickles my inner word-snob, before it lodges in my cerebellum like an owl pellet (unfleshed: inedible bits wrapped in its own skin) and leaves me to wonder if I am the recipient of the literate joke or the butt of it. Retch, on lark and dream deferred indeed. I applaud, shrivel and/or implode.
Quite lovely to find a piece of 'real' writing on AC! I hope to get some poetry up here soon, and show the world I am more than just my recipes, restaurant reviews and how-to guides!! Thanks for sharing this.

Hmm, interesting bit of wisdom :)Sheri
Good poem. It has a bit a Poe-ish feel to it.
