A Case from a Reluctant Ghost Hunter: Part Two

Haunted House in Germany

Korey M.
Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a professional ghost hunter and I use the term "ghost hunter" very loosely. Professional Ghost hunters use specialized equipment that is said to detect changes in the electromagnetic field and so on. I have never used any equipment during my visits to haunted places. I never set out to get involved with haunted areas, buildings, or people. My intermediate psychic skills, and the fact that paranormal events seem to be attracted to me, have pulled me, usually reluctantly, into situations such as that discussed in this article.

In part one, I discussed how I had been urged to visit a young couple who felt their house might be haunted and who were also concerned about the impact this seemed to be having on their two young children. The following is what happened during the initial visit and afterwards.

After the initial briefing about what had been occurring in the home, I asked if we could take a bit of a tour of the house. The house was two stories but was not substantially large. It had been remodeled since the original building had stood but some of the original structure remained.

Upstairs, my attention was drawn to an odd, small door above the staircase. The wood of the door and frame looked older than the wood in the rest of the house. I asked what the door led to--naturally expecting that it was some kind of attic. Indeed the door led to a small attic-like room. I was told that the building had once been part of a farmhouse. Previous owners had had built the house incorporating the old structure within the new. In old-style farmhouses in that area, the family often lived on the top floor and the bottom level was reserved for some of the animals. The attic area was likely where hay would have been stored.

We visited the girls' room next. The two children aged abut four and seven were not overly talkative but they were not shy either. They both seemed like normal well-adjusted children. The room felt normal--nothing unusual there. In fact, the entire upper level had a pleasant airy feeling to it except for the little door that had earlier drawn my attention.

It is easy to let one's imagination roam when exploring what is supposed to be a haunted house. It was easy for me to imagine what kinds of events may have occurred on those grounds and in the room behind the small old door--especially considering Germany's bloody past. I tried to remain objective, however. To use intuition properly, one has to keep a reign on the imagination. It would not be fair to anyone involved if I let my imagination roam in these kinds of situations.

Imagination is a wonderful thing but can interfere with psychic impressions --the mind needs to be calm and open during any kind of psychic investigation.

We went down to the main level and made our way through the rooms there. I hesitated at the entrance to a sitting room. Then, after a moment I walked in. That is when "it" happened. I felt as if as if gravity had increased three-fold. I felt like I was being pulled, with great force, downward--it was a terrible feeling. "It is here." I said. The others came and my companions said they felt it too. The couple asked what it was. I told them I wasn't sure but I was fairly certain that it might have had something to do with some of their problems.

No spirits or other things came out of the walls to greet me at that moment. In Hollywood that happens, but in real life that is much more rare. Sometimes poltergeist activity seems to be merely a product of energy disturbances of some kind in a particular area. Whether that be caused by some kind of electromagnetic force, or something else, I often have no idea. Whatever the cause, the energy--the sensation of being pulled as if by strong gravitational force--was very real.

Sylvia and Celeste had come prepared with incense to cleanse the air. I am not quite as "religious" as that and don't use many props to settle chaotic energy--though I have used sage sticks frequently in the past. This time I just tried to connect with the energy to see what it was. I told it that if it was something negative it needed to go away and leave the family alone. Then I just imagined a lot of light and love filling every area of the house. Sounds simple doesn't it? More often than not it works.

Afterwards we sat down again with the couple and I discussed some things they should do to help the children. Children are very sensitive to energy because they have not learned ways to deal with it--and children are very sensitive to how their parents are feeling. Many children simply have many nightmares. However, I believed in this case that the youngest one, the girl who was having the nightmares and spoke of seeing angels, was probably seeing something. I did not feel it was anything awful, but that it was vivid enough to give her significant pause.

I told the couple that they needed to make sure not to act frightened or tense around her when she spoke of seeing ghosts or angels and that they should speak to her of her own guardian angels. Her grandmother or grandfather or other relatives who had passed on could easily act as guardian angels in the child's mind, if not in reality.

Armed this way, with her own beliefs in her guardian angels, the girl would have some defenses against fearful dreams or visions.

The couple was very happy that we came and seemed very pleased about the advice. After a week or so, however, they were still having some problems. The activity had lessened, but was still there. Sylvia, Celeste and I drove back to the house and repeated our individual rituals. It seemed to do the trick this time. The couple reported later that things had calmed down.

Sounds very simple, right? Perhaps too simple? Sometimes all it takes is a simple word, a simple action.

People fear the unknown. People, as a rule, fear the paranormal. If you ever find yourself a witness to poltergeist activity or other paranormal events, the first thing you should do is calm down and settle your energy. Fear is your worst enemy when it comes to the paranormal.

One thing unusual about this case was that it was the man, it seemed, who attracted the energy. The children noticed it, yes, and feared it a bit. But the man was the most upset. I believe that his stress about his family and his life added to the already unstable energy in the house. I rarely remember faces clearly but I can remember his and the fearful desperation in his eyes.

wow Dr.Devience. Indeed it sounds like she felt the vibe and decided to investigate and get your attention. Acknowledging a presence almost always seems to give it a bit of an energy boost and draw it closer. It is too long a story for this comment, but I once had a spirit who liked to hang around me for many years. I thought she had gone away completely but then I mentioned her to a friend and she paid a visit--a very intense one--to that friend.

Oh man. Korey. What do you make of this? - About 10 minutes after typing that last comment I went to let the dog outside. I was standing by the door... right next to the CD player. It turned on by itself. Scared the behoohoo out of me because it just all of a sudden began playing the CD. I wonder if she is still here and sensed what I wrote about missing the presence? She had never done anything like that before.

When I moved into my house in Sweden, there was a presence here. It used to belong to my husband's mother who had reported voices and stuff, and the family had discounted her as just old. She was right, though. I think it was a Danish female, based on the one time she tried to talk to me. When I indicated I don't speak Danish (very calmly), she left. That was a year ago and I haven't seen any evidence of her. I'm a bit bummed that she left, actually.

Fantastic article! I wouldn't have commented on part 1, but I was in too big of a hurry to read part 2. Very well written.

I agree - fear is the wrong kind of energy when dealing with the paranormal!
