A Changing Season

Last October you begged the leaves to hang on
please, just for a little longer...
as if that would keep the long gray days of winter at bay
and when each leaf fell
slowly off the aspens
you cussed them out
and winter yawned and stretched
until each branch was covered in the still quiet
of blinding white.

You say you won't bother talking to the leaves again.

    Hi Vanessa, great to see you publish! I liked this... I could almost picture winter yawning and stretching. It's hard to believe it is going to be cold again very soon.
