A Cheap Method to Build Your Garden

Peter Moore
Do you have a set of tomatoes that just grow perfectly for the spot, a small flower that would look great all over your front yard? It can be almost any plant that you just wished you had more of. You can go and try to purchase more at your local gardening store. The problem is that they are never are the same. They never respond to light the same. The growth patterns are different. This also can get very expensive when looking to fill out an entire garden. So what are you going to do?

Why don't you simply clone your favorite plants? With cloning you are able to get the same results time after time. Imagine your garden with the same growth. You will know when and how your flowers will bloom. Your fruits will be ready at the same time. You will know exactly how your garden will perform. This makes it much easier when looking to plan your time.

When you think of cloning you might think of some crazy laboratory. Trust me it's so simple to clone a plant you will be amazed. What if I was to tell you all you need was a plastic container, tin foil, aquarium pump and a small fluorescent light would that be something that interests you? I'm sure it would. Let me go over how easy it is to build a cloner and clone your plants.

First take a small plastic container and fill it with water. Run an air line from the aquarium pump and place it in the water using an air stone is beneficial. Once you turn the pump on you will see the water become full of air bubbles. Once this is happening you will cover the plastic container with tin foil and place under a small fluorescent light. This light can be as small as 15 watts. Leave this in a relatively cool are under 90 degrees and its perfect.

Now take your plant and cut off a small branch from the lower part. If you prefer to top your plants you can use the top of the plant. Let the cutting be 3-4 inches in length. Now use a sharp pair of scissors when doing this. I like to burn the blade with a lighter to make sure there are no germs. I also cut at a 45 degree angle. Once this is all done you can lay your cuttings on the table. Remove any large excess leaves.

Now you have your cuttings and your cloner. Take the cutting and place the stem through the tin foil and into the water and that's it. In about a week you will see white roots start coming out of the stem. When this happens let a few more come out and then place in dirt. Before placing directly in the hot sun give it a week of fluorescent or indirect light for it to get used to its new surroundings. After that treat it just like a normal plant.
