A Child's Garden

Doing a flower garden does not have to be plain and simple. Most flower gardens you see seem to all be just made up of flowers. It is not often you will see a lot of creativity in these flower gardens. Here are some creative ideas for different flower gardens.

One is the love garden where you can take some decorative stone and find a spot in your yard where you want this flower garden. Take the decorative stones and shape them in your yard into a heart. Inside the heart take the top layer of grass off with a shovel. Take smaller decorative stone and make an arrow going through the heart. Make it so the arrow is nothing but stone with no ground showing if possible, that will be used for a kind of walk way. In the rest of the heart plant which ever flowers you want and maybe even small bushes like a gardenia bush. Make sure you plant some flowers close to the arrow.

To decorate your flower garden even more you may purchase a boy and girl doll. Some of these dolls even come with pegs so they can be stuck in the ground. You can place the girl doll on the arrow walk way and make it look like she is bending over to smell a flower. You may also make it so she is bending over looking at a butterfly. You can buy decorative butterflies and put them on the flowers. You can place the boy doll wherever you wish. You can place him behind the girl as though he is watching her or place him at the end of the arrow as if he is waiting for her. Use your imagination when placing your dolls.

Another idea is to outline a circle with decorative stone in your yard. Remove the top layer of grass with your shovel. You can cut out a circle in some black rubber tarp and lay that down. Cover the tarp with topsoil, stone, or colored bark. Cut holes in the tarp to plant your flowers. Plant the flowers around the edge of the circle on the inside. In the middle of the circle make a little hill with a flat top and place a wooden bench on it. You may then put a boy and girl doll on the bench.

This idea may take more work and detail but will be an eye catcher for sure. With this idea you will have your neighbors and friends talking about it. If you know someone who is good at working with wood, ask him or her to build you a small swing to put two dolls on it. Shape your flower garden however you would like. Take the swing and place it in the middle of your flower garden and place your dolls on it. What is good about this is with the swing being lightweight, when the wind blows the swing will move on it's own. Plant flowers in the areas you like and be creative with color and choices of your flowers. Even placing ceramic animals in your flower garden can bring it to life.
