A Christian Alternative to Myspace

How morally right is Myspace for teens and preteens? As a parent of two preteens I ask myself the question, do I want my kids to have a Myspace page? My children of course have friend on Myspace, and they are always bugging me to let them have a page of their own. I was curios one day and set myself up a page, within minutes I was getting friend request from people I didn't even know. I had a couple request from females that were very baring of their skin, if you know what I mean. I went to there site and saw stuff I most defiantly would not want my son to see. No they were not fully nude, but it was more then my son would need to see.

Don't get me wrong I believe for an adult if that's what you are into its fine. But for kids I don't think they need to be on such a site. I am trying to raise my kids to have a good Christian background, and keep their minds as innocent as possible, for as long as possible. In today's society kids are subjected to a lot, it is not like when our grandparents were growing up. Drugs, Alcohol, sex is all right in their face at a young age. I know, I had my first kid when I was 16 and hooked on drugs by 18. So I try to look out for things my kids may be exposed to way to early in their life.

So in my research of trying to find good things for my kids to do on the internet, I found this site. www.dittytalk.com it is just like myspace you can change your background, invite friends, comment on your friends page. The set up is the same but flipped around and most of all it is a Christian site. Now I know not everything is fool proof, but the music, videos, comments are all age appropriate. I feel safe knowing my kids won't accidentally come across something they should not see.

There is a lot of fun on the internet but it is very easy to stray into the wrong site. Just trying to find stuff to put on my page, I came across a lot of sexual things. This site has all you need right there for you to pick from. So your children are not surfing the net to look for things. If I were to rate this site I would give it a ten. I think all parents should check it out.

    Check out Faithitup.com. They are more into promoting ministries and musicians. It is a great site for kids. Very safe. The owners are always monitoring it and are very active on the site themselves.

    Alot of the time if you try to keep your children innocent, it will mess them up when they hit mid teens in high school. i was a very inocent child up untill the point of being 14, i was babied told nothing about the real world and ended up being an outcast of my school. all the other kids knew about all that stuff i didnt know what was going on at all. then when day it clicked that there was something wrong with me, i started hanging around with a different crowd (not the wrong crowd theyre all great people) and drinking taking huge amount of drugs for my age and becoming sexually active. i bassicly changed who i was over 6 months and lost 3 years of my life to it. the point im really trying to get to is that if you baby them, they might not fit in, and when you get to the point of such the need of fitting in as i did, they will do anything.

    Oh, I had never heard of this site. I love myspace, because it can be set to private however maybe I will suggest this site to some younger individuals instead. Thanks.

    Hi Nichole, ya there is a lot of trust in Christian sites, I am in a different one that what you are talking about here and there are kids as young as 11 years old on there, its pretty cool that parents can trust a site that much to let their kids on there at a young age.
