A Christian Writers Perception of Morals and Integrity in a Writers Works

What a Christian Writer Publishes Reflects on Their Character: Their Integrity: Their Christian Values

Malina Debrie
As a Christian, I am required to set an example for God. The Lord tells us that we are God's children and our bodies are His temple. As such, I am judged based on what I do, what I say, how I walk and how I talk. I am even judged by the work I do and how it is done. So when I, the Christian Malina, decide to write an article, I must first consider what the article says about me the Christian Malina and then what the article's monetary value is. If the article is of a religious nature, I must then reflect on the Christian value of the article. I must also remember that the articles subject must be reflective of my Christian values and love of God. I must make sure that the subject matter and the information provided is based on the God I serve and not based on the interest of man or obtaining as much money as possible.

So, as a Christian, even though I would love to see the financial gain of my articles sky rocket, I must remember the Lord first before I publish or even write anything. I often read other writers articles and books. I even think of a topic to write based on their articles. Yet, before I can move my pen to begin writing, the question always enters my heart, "What Would Jesus Do and What would Jesus think of me and this article?" I must consider if I am embarrassing my Lord before publishing a word.

When I think of the topic and the information that will be sent out into the world from an article topic, I back down from some of the more popular topics. I reflect on what I want others to think of me and my moral values; My integrity; My love for God.

I would never do anything knowingly that would embarrass my Father in Heaven. Furthermore, my prayer is that the Holy spirit will guide me so as to keep me from doing anything against the will of God. Before my pen hits the paper or my fingers hit the keys, I decide if the article is something my God will look at me and say "I am proud of you my child."

In His word, Jesus tells us that "we should first and foremost seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.(Mathew 6:33). In the respect of what a Christian writer should consider before penning a word is that according to His word, we should live our lives by the highest moral values. We should maintain the highest ethical standards. We are not to and cannot as a Christian serve two masters. We cannot serve God and the devil. The world is money hungry. And God's word tells us that "for the love of money is the root of all evil." (1st Timothy 6:10) When it comes to man's determination as to what they will do, most men will often do based on the monetary value and not based on the love of God.

At all times, in the good and in the bad, when weak or strong, when rich or poor, when happy or sad, whenever, we must put the will of God first in our lives. So, as a writer, or as a Christian writer, I am required to write only those things that will make the will of God and His kingdom here on earth be glorified. My Christian walk must always be to glorify God in everything I do.

So, I must make sure when writing, I am always writing topics that will reflect my Christian value, my love of God and my desire to glorify His kingdom here on Earth.

My prayer: Father God in the name of your precious son Jesus, I pray that each day I am walking in Your will. I pray that each day my walk is one that others will look upon and see You as my anchor, as my sword and as my shield. I pray that when I speak, my words will be a reflection of Your will in my life and my desire to further Your kingdom here on this earth. Father I love you and want to do everything in my power to glorify You. Let me be an example for You Lord so men may see my good works and that they glorify You in heaven. Amen!

I love involving the Lord in my stories, both fiction and non-fiction. Many times I've reached the end of an article and not been able to come to any kind of satisfying conclusion. It's times like that I'll just let it sit. Maybe take a walk. Ask God for His input. He's never failed... and some of those moments would even make great articles! :)

I think that no matter what a writer chooses for his or her subject, they should bring their integrity. Regret in the online world lasts forever. By writing our best and reflecting our morals, we are doing the highest good, no matter what.

You are so Biblically correct. You go girl. American money is not going to be worth anything in a few years anyway if the prophets of the church are right.
